Still don't understand why it hasn't happened yet. Would be an ideal chance to move away from the Uber woober Premier League.
Imagine this weekend being the first game of season.

But then you'd be div4 and I'm not sure the jocks would be happy starting in 5

Fücking hell Rangers started again in a league worse than a over 65s walking football Thursday league, 10 years ago, they’d jump at the chance.

I think it would be interesting if they scrapped the League cup and replaced it with something like a UK cup, where Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English teams compete, I think that would be a good way to include Rangers and Celtic

Unless there is either big prize money or a European place there would be no interest outside Celtic and rangers games. Don’t forget our 2 legged affair v st mirren or the old Texaco cup

Because...

A) Cricket.
B) Rugby Union would have a free pass over the winter months.
C) Decent minded people go on holiday in summer.
D) I'd have to fall for another stupid wind up.

We already have Summer football since the new season begins in July.
I would be happy with a March to Christmas football season, however.

Nah there’s plenty to do in the summer. Holidays, festivals, loads of outdoor activities.

If football wasn’t there in the winter months with little daylight then weekends would be depressing.

Up until last season English, Welsh, Northern Irish and Irish teams took part in the League Cup in Scotland. Not sure why it didn’t happen this season.

I love the summer, mostly because there is no football. I can relax do other things and start thinking about who we might sign; I can get excited for the season ahead, However removed from reality my thoughts might be. One year I confidently predicted promotion from league 1…”we’ve got a Bulgarian international you know”?

Still feel short changed about that having gone to the first leg. I keep hoping.

But that could keep us going through the winter months.

Twitter feed revealing new signings like Christmas presents. New year - new squad as transfer window opens.

I admit I am biased because I hate the cold with a passion and don't find winter games much fun. With short days if feels like the game is the entire day as by the time you leave it's dark. Much prefer leaving in the light and feeling I can do something else afterwards.

But I do understand about other things to do in summer, holidays etc. Though for me I've never quite understood the going on a summer holiday if you go abroad. If you're doing that go at a time when it cold, dark and miserable here to get the most from it.

oddly children have a long summer holiday not a winter one. Or should we alter the school schedule to suit you as well as you don’t like the cold?

Of course not. Though I know of plenty of people without kids who still go in the summer because it's kind of ingrained that that's when we go on holiday.

There could be an argument made for changing the school year to a big winter break rather than summer, as a lot of it is based on redundant practices like needing the kids to help with crops etc during the longer days. Or at least making it more even between summer and winter with a month off in both.
- Less potential for school days to be lost to snow etc.
- Safety as kids going to and from school in the light due to longer days (and would allow for the debate about longer school days to fit in with work and be more like the world they will face on leaving school).
- More able/willing to partake in P.E. and spend time on outdoor activities.

Of course, it would need to be taken into consideration that underprivileged children who were unlikely to get to go on holiday would then spend their holidays stuck indoors in the cold and wet while more affluent kids got to go away, but that's also part of a bigger, separate argument about social equality.

Normally. It’s likely the 2030 World Cup will be in our Winter again though due to the weather.

Should get onto the club about arranging a pre season friendly against them and a Cup up for grabs to the winner, I can imagine a few City fans going for the novelty factor

In 2017 I spoke to someone I worked with who was at St Mirren at the time. They were interested. Our schedule had already been confirmed when I asked the question.

Summers for international tournaments, music festivals and holidays. Pre season ticks you by with the footy too.
As for the cups I'd absolutely love the league cup with the Scottish and Welsh sides. No idea how it'd work in the calander but that'd throw up some brilliant trips and atmospheres

I think we still haven't played that second league. Think we have the squad to turn that first leg.

If it was in winter season tickets could be given as Christmas presents.
