Not enough. This pr*ck should be banned from English Football. He has punched a player in an international match, he has racially abused a player, he has bitten another player, why are we letting scum like him into our game? I dont think his ban is long enough, but he has the cheak to say he doesnt believe he should even get a 3 game ban?! Someone deck this c-unit.

Didnt Barton get a 12game ban for kicking?

I'd have given him a 20 game ban.

How long was Defoe banned for when he bit Mascherano?

The precedent is not clear. Jermain Defoe was shown a yellow card for biting the arm of Javier Mascherano. The Tottenham striker felt his actions had been "blown out of all proportion".
"The referee was standing over me and if he felt I had done something bad he would have sent me off," said Defoe. "It doesn't look great on TV and I accept that I have a responsibility to conduct myself in the right way. I reacted in a bit of a mischievous way - my character is a little like that at times."
Defoe escaped without a ban, but Suárez was not so lucky in November 2010, when the Dutch football association handed him a seven-match suspension for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal.

Sounds fair to me. He's a repeat offender and they needed to be more severe with him this time.

Can't see how anyone can moan at this though some starry eyed football fan probably will

I thought he deserved more than Barton did! Yes, Barton went a bit psycho but he was playing against his old team, and lost his head! One of his many moments of madness.

Suarez however went out of his way to bite an opponent, he's already been banned for being a racist, both of which I would say it a lot worse than what Barton did

No wonder the refs are inconsistent so are the FA.

8 game ban for Suarez because elf being racist, terry gets 4 game ban for being racist

Defoe bites somebody yellow card, Suarez 10 game ban.

Inconsistent

given his history he had to have a 7 game ban at least but when is he going to learn. The guy needs help that's clear but they need to make examples of incidents like this, right call in my opinion.

So if the ref had seen it and given a yellow card they couldn't and wouldn't have taken any other action?

10 game ban sounds exactly right.

What happened on Monday morning at a school game? A kid bit another kid's arm.

It warrants this kind of ban just to make it clear that this sort of thing is not acceptable.

A child biting another at school, I mean it was totally unheard of before this Monday. However, if we are going to blame footballers for the ills of society, I'm waiting on players being sent off the moment they start mouthing and verbally abusing refs, ala Rooney. As far as I'm concerned the F.A. are not fit to govern the game, they are inconsistent in the extreme (Defoe/Suarez, appealing when Rooney kicked out at a player) and it smacks to me of punishing the man rather than the player.

A child biting another child at school in a football match.

You think that is not linked?

Unless the child admits he did it because he saw Suarez do it we'll never know. Kids get involved in fisticuffs on a football field, who do we blame for that?

Don't remember Defoe doing the same - must of missed that. If so, yes. As a first time, he should of got 7. Then 10.
