We cannot afford him, he probably wouldn't want the job even if he wasn't England's under 21 national coach, but my ideal candidate would be Stuart Pearce.

Instead, we are Likely to end up with Shaw, who may or may not turn out to be a great manager, but is as inexperienced as the manager that was just fired. If Shaw is to be the new manager (how long is "interim"?), what have we actually gained by firing Thorn after four unbeaten games into the new season?

I am not a Thorn fan, but when was a manager last fired for being unbeaten at the start of a new season? The only really positive point I can see is that it is hopefully the end of Thorn's unbelievably daft habit of giving everyone a stupid nickname.

Erm... Probably because we haven't been beaten this season?! Whether we should have had more points or not, it's still a fact that we are unbeaten. But then again, people on here tend to just prefer theory, speculation and plain bullshit over fact these days anyway.

I am not saying that I am happy that we only drew, merely stating the fact that is is unusual to fire an unbeaten manager after just 3 games. Then again, as I posted elsewhere, if you are going to blame Thorn for the second half against Bury, then you have to give him the credit for the excellent first half or you are being biased.

As to Stuart Pearce, I think he has done a good job with the under 21s. Reached the Semi-final in 2007, the Final in 2009, admittedly got knocked out in the group stage last time around, but has a good winning record. I think he has produced well balanced teams playing good tactics and good football. Also thought he did quite well at Man City.
He is ex Cov as well, and is a man that takes no nonsense from players. No chance of him being bullied by any players! His England role has allowed him to see and experience all the youth talent out there which could be of phenomenal benefit as a club manager.
I believe he is an intelligent and adaptable manager that could do a long-term brilliant job for us and get us back to the Premier League built on a solid basis if SISU were prepared to be sensible.

Just my opinion.

He also played David James up front.

Slight difference between out field players and a keeper though eh? Most goalkeepers probably couldn't play conference level outside of the sticks.
