He wants 1 striker older and 1 striker younger than Tudguy?

I can't see him going into the season with two 32 + year old strikers.

Tudgay has played almost 400 professional games. And yet we feel we need someone with more experience? More ability, more drive, more goals... I can buy that. But more experience, because Tudgay hasn't learned enough about the game in his 13 years playing? Bizarre.

What would be nice....

Duncan Whatmore (loan from Sunderland), Dominic Samuel (loan from Reading), Marcus Tudgay, Goerge Thomas (bring him into the first team set up) and one other... another young, hungry, fearless player come in on loan from the premier league.

I'd rather we permanently signed our strikers tbh. If the impossible happens and we actually get promoted chances are the loan strikers would have had good seasons and wouldn't be coming back to us.

I fear Dominic Samuel will get his chance at Reading for the start of the season.

We need a big striker, someone who bullies defenders?

It's experience players that he needs to feed him

We need quick striker's like Calum Wilson you generally get big shit centre halves in this league (Webster )for example so fast strikers will murder them.

I agree, Reading are massively cutting their age budget and looking to thin their squad so unfortunately I think we won't be seeing Samuel again. It's a shame because he will score 15-20 goals in league 1 in a good side.

Saw Kieffer moore have couple of good games, just been released by yeovil still only 22. Could be a good target man when needed

Fully agree.

We need speed and fitness. Have this then everything else falls into place. Of course every position has its own specialisations to go with speed and fitness but for me this is the key to getting us out of this division.

A striker in the form and mould of Callum would be a dream for this league, as we seen with the man himself.

Not many of them around though

With TM style of play age is not necessarily important. He likes to play diamond style not kick and rush

Need different options, partnerships- a mix.

Big man, little man, pace, strength etc

Options that can change a game when different opposition/matches need different styles

He didn't sign them because he didn't speak to them. He didn't speak to them because he has better players in mind.

Chill out.

They would not want to match the salary that Pope is on either I am sure I was told he is on around 7k per week which is a bit rich for a player of his ability.

I think we have to have Thomas as part of the four but for me he is just too small in what is a mans league....
I hope he proves me wrong and I cannot fault his effort from limited times I have seen him but just makes no impact.

I suppose TM will use him more as reserve/sub option this year anyway but wheras Maddison has been a great impact sub
I do not think Thomas has that in his make up? Still Michael Owen/Messi etc are not the tallest and it never stopped them.

Regardless I am quite excited about this season already from the moment TM cleared out a lot of the dross!

TM realises blowing a huge hole in his budget on one player is out the question. As for pope he is not quite as good as he thinks he is so I for one feel we have not missed out in the slightest.

A player with enough skill and anticipation would make the men you describe in L1 look like toddlers learning to kick a ball. We need to give youth a chance and with TM I can see a blend of our best youth and some hired old heads combining to be formidable going forward next season. TM teams score goals - can't wait for the season now!!!!

Are people forgetting we have a gem in Maddison?

Maybe TM will use him just behind the front 2 rather than out and out striker

Was told last week which apparently came from the club that we are to try and buy Dominic Samuel once he returns from his holidays, would he be classed as the young striker or the older more experienced one ?

Samuel would be a real sign of intent if the club sign him hope it's true he could get 20+ goals for us

Samuel would command quite a high fee for League 1 standards probably around £500k I'm guessing?
