Simms was scoring regularly and generally playing well, earning him Championship player of the month. He should have kept the shirt and Wright should have had to prove from the bench why he deserved to be a starter. This wasn't the case.
As I have said before, Thomas-Asante gives us fluidity and flexibility when playing wide or a 10, which makes us far less predictable offensively. He helps the striker by creating space through his play. We miss him.

If Wilder’s comments, when they signed Bamford, are to be believed then we’re planning to make a striker statement signing in January…

Wright’s body language has been off the last few games - coincidence, perhaps, but could also be that he knows he’s not going to be the main man anymore - if it’s linked to our January plans, you’d think / hope he would be trying to prove he’s un-droppable!

Simms was scoring for fun, got players of the month award, then dropped! Why?

When I think of some of the poor buggers who have had dogs abuse over the years I'm amazed how much slack Wright and Simms are cut. I'd take a striker who might score a couple less than Wright but was a consistent thorn in the side of the opposition defence, giving them something to think about and creating opportunities for others. With Wright its a short purple patch to up the stats them long periods of nothing. Can't have that in a potential automatic promotion campaign

No idea , why you think this is partly Simms fault. 6 goals, in 7, player of the month, then gets dropped..Now gets 10 minutes, a game

Fairly sure him/his agent expected a brief stay here followed by a juicy premier league move. Think he is more than ready to move on

That’s hard on Simms (and BTA)

We need a Wily old veteran up top whos totally different to Wright and Simms

Kieffer Moore would have been perfect.

Wright had 14 touches all night, and won 1 of his 7 aerial battles. Not good enough.

Maybe he should have played closer to Furlong?

You think him and Wright are the answer? I prefer him to Wright but still not for me if we want to move forward

Are they good enough for this league? Absolutely. As much as I want us to sign PL quality this January, it probably isn't going to happen until we're up.

I've missed this - what was said by Wilder?! On Bamford, all I recall is that he and Lampard wanted the deal and King pulled the plug which I assumed we'd look to sign a striker in January.

I don’t really count BTA. He plays a number of different roles. Re Simms that can be seen as harsh He blows occasionally hot, but often cold for long periods.

It was one defender, which was Kipre where he easily got bodied like he had been all night and lost the ball.

He was horrendous.
Basic football, if the ball is played to you in that position you have to move towards the ball, Wright stood still and let Kipre get in front of him

Ellis and Wright add nothing if they are not scoring goals.
All too often I read they don't get the right service, they're played out of position, it's not their game, they are bullied, they are this they are that.
It's more about hoping they'll score rather than they will score.
Not good enough I'm afraid.

I think he said something along the lines of we pulled the plug “cos they’re going for it in January”. Something like that if I remember correctly.

Tbh I defended Wright from the start of his time here and don't consider myself a hater of his at all but he had a huge spell to end last season where he was just dire. We were told it was injury related yet here we are again. He goes through spells where he is frankly dreadful and I am not here for it.

Pretty much where I am with him.

I know Haji is not doing well atm but saw a good point on X what got me thinking.

We all know Haji’s strengths and weaknesses and really think he’s not doing as well partly to missing a busy number ten behind him. Eccles while good, isn’t exactly a traditional number 10 and Rudoni is suffering in his own right.

I’m not convinced that, like Rudoni, Haji is justifying his starting place.
