Simms has to be on the transfer market surely?

Who would buy him, and pay him £25k a week???

It ain't happening, he's here for the duration of his contract im afraid, and if that ain't bad enough, if we do get promoted (even without playing him) we'd still have to pay Everton another few million.

I think 2 up will work better, but you’ve got to sacrifice someone then.
I think 1 up front works with Haji down the left but he won’t be playing there I don’t think.

Yeah there was a lot of dithering in/around the box. Got in each others way multiple times too. But that should come with time.

Defence probably does need tightening but I’d 100% put any money available towards the other end of the pitch.

We didn’t have any chances that I would say were ‘shoulda scored’ ones - glaring misses or amazing saves.

Funnily enough me and the guy I sit with said exactly the same. The crosses aren’t bad we just don’t have a powerhouse striker.

Was a bit worried at the end of last season that we'd to a certain extent been 'found out' and didn't have a back up plan. Really shouldn't still be the case at the start of this season.

Hate the simplicity of it but we need someone that will attack the ball in the box. Getting so many crosses into the box now but no one getting across their man.

Rudoni our only goal threat at the moment. Do wonder if we could go with the 4-1-3-2 we set up with towards the end and get another to play with Wright. Start playing with two and I don’t think we need to get rid of Simms/BTA, might actually do them some good.

Is a Portuguese striker playing for Burton Albion really the answer?

Hopefully we can find a suitor for Simms and move him on. Lampard clearly doesn’t fancy him at all so would be best for all parties.

It's not just about scoring goals. Our No9 has to be able to hold the ball and bring the wide forwards and Rudoni/Torp into play.

A proper No.9 would transform this team.

I've seen more mobile pieces of concrete than Keifer Moore, to slow and too old.

This place is unbelievable. Blaiming Simms and saying get rid when he didnt even play today. If we need to get rid of anyone its Asante. How many games is Frank going to give him to run around amelessly before being subbed on 70 minutes.

The usual anti Simms brigade should watch his goal in the last friendly and thats what was needed today. Not the headless chicken Asante with his fake bandage on his arm. WBA fans must have been pissing themselves we payed money for him

Agree. Realise that Wright is a LW, sell Asante and buy a new striker and a backup RW and we look in much better shape.

So we start with BTA.
We bring off EMC just when he was looking more dangerous .
We bring off our only midfielder who can hit a free kick.
We bring on a midfielder who could get injured by a strong wind.
We bring on an unfit striker and leave one off that at least scored a header against Bundesliga opposition last week.
We pay circa £6m for two full backs and start them on the bench opting instead to play a guy who is likely off soon.

Apologies but the point still stands. We must have committed a few quid to a 4 year contract though.

Not bringing on Simms for last (or30) when you are drawing with a v avg side at home speaks volumes about Lampard’s faith (lack of) in him.
Disappointed that wright played in middle and not on left when on…he not the answer with his back to goal.
Brau when he came on was v fired up but didn’t seem to know if he was on the left or down the middle.

Positives today were the clean sheet and keeper more than competent.
Negatives…toothless up front, defence v shaky when hull moved ball quickly and sheaf injured (yet again).

6 in the cup. His record in the league fit us now 18 in 89 and they were scored in 14 games. For the other 75 out of 89 he didn't score in three wasn't a lot of positives. I'd happily move him on if we could get someone who wanted him. I was hoping Robins at Stoke but they scored 3 today.
