Can't remember the last time this has worked well for us, especially post transfer deadline day.

Henderson, Hunt, Ramage and the Swede all flopped badly . Mainly as they weren't fit enough when they arrived. Im just hoping with the new Loan rules clubs might terminate contracts more freely and there may be a higher class of player who have had a preseason available.

Pie in the sky but I've just seen Sol Bamba has had his contract mutually terminated by Leeds he'd be a great signing. says its for personal reasons but they had been trying to offload him pre deadline day with no takers.

yeah but he has only paid off this season, we dont want a bunch of players that are going to take 4 months to get into shape

I'll give you Stokes, hes exactly the kind of player id gamble on. FGR are my local team and he was a standout for them. less Hunts more Stokes

Did he come after we had completed preseason tho?

He came on loan didn't he, then signed.

So was fully fit when signed. I'll worry if we sign a bunch of 30 somethings that have been unattached since the end of last season.

He most certainly wasn't fully fit when he signed. He struggled a bit with fitness to begin with (coupled with his asthma).

The thing is, I wouldn't mind if we got a free agent in now that would replace McCann for example in January. It would give us chance to then get a permanent player and time to get up to speed if needed.

Sol bamba? Leeds fans a relieved he's gone. Hes truly awful, Were better off without than go get him.

Diego Poyet has been released by West Ham after they paid his contract up.
He would be exactly what we need but I guess he'll be in demand and may have personal terms outside what we can go to

mixed reviews on Twatter, most say they loved him to begin with but has been out of form for a while. we are in the league bellow and need a lump so could do well

Was thinking the same. Is there anywhere that shows who is in their last year of contract? Should be looking at players on that list that aren't getting game time.

Thr only decent unattached 'free agent' I can remember us signing after thr season has started was Moussa, and we didn't see the best of him until the second season after he had a proper pre season.

As the link above confirms, the player has to be released before the end of the transfer window to be able to sign for another club.
