This only used to happen at break time, during school, to the useless gangly kid we'd stick in goal. :thinking about:

The strangest goal I ever saw was a few seasons ago, I cannot remember all the details but it was either a pass back or a weak shot. The ball just ran along the ground and the GK got low down to just scoop it up routinely. But just before the ball reached the GK, it hit a divot in the grass and jumped up over the goalies head and into the goal. The GK was absolutely dumbfounded. I wonder if its on Youtube anywhere. It was a televised game.

A lot of slap on that contact, wasn't there? Bet he was aching to rub his face better.

And the way he puts his hands up like "I meant to do that!".

Number one is...well, see for yourself. The rest are pretty glorious too, including Lee Dixon's lob over Seaman against us.

Classic, that is - I'm sure it was on Danny Baker's Own Goals and Gaffs back in the day.

I think this is a strange goal! No wind, just a straight forward throw back to the goalkeeper, oh and best of it is happened to Villa!

I've seen that at least 50 times, and it just gets better with age. His despairing run was brilliant.

If your team mate did this, what would you say to him? Cracking finish though.

Here you go, number 9 (2nd goal in video) is the one I mentioned in my first post.

This is an absolute classic. His name's something Brass, and I'm sure this had Jeff Stelling in pieces on Soccer Saturday.

I like Dion Dublin's goal against Newcastle when Shay Given threw the ball down without looking behind him, Dublin ran back onto the pitch and smashed it in, never understood why the ref had to consult the linesman before awarding the goal

'Ghost Goal', from Stefan Kiessling - in the awkward celebrations, you can see Castro saying: 'Shh, shut the fuck up, get back to the halfway line'.

I seem to remember the reverse once happened where the ball went into the goal then crept under or through the net and ended up outside, and the ref disallowed it.

around 1.15 on
no goal given for perfectly good goal, and no penalty when the defender then hands the ball to the keeper

No strange goals in this link, just some of the best long-range strikes you'll ever see. Some of them are breathtaking.

The Donkey Kick. It was the most talked about goal I can remember, and certainly the most imitated. Still love seeing it again now.

How about this one, almost as good as the donkey kick, or maybe better:
