How many times has he been sucked inside and lost his man that then leads to a goal or clear cut chance?! Seems like at least 3 per game!

Is that because the left midfielder is miles away so he runs with his man and leaves one free?

so on saturday the first 2 maybe down his side
The 3rd was AWFUL goalkeeping

he was standing on his left post - offering the whole of the net to the Vale player

I think Stokes has been chucked in the deep end. He has little to no cover in front of him, and ultimately has been a decent defender.

True, several times on Saturday he was left exposed in a two-on-one situation with no cover and when one of the two was Marshall he had no chance. My own feeling is that he could be a good prospect, just needs a better midfield in front of him but that applies to the whole defensive set-up.

Not sure why there's so much anger towards Stokes. I think he looks pretty decent, better than any other left-back at the Club. Circumstances aren't perfect for him admittedly, but taking that into account I think he's doing well. As others have said he has no protection in front of him.

I thought he looked as though he was in a struggle on Saturday, which then had a knock on effect to the rest of his game, however he didnt have much protection at any point of the game.

We must have somebody to blame, Pressley has gone, therefore a new scapegoat is required!! Lets all shout and scream, point fingers. It makes us feel better.

Unfortunately, a lot does not stay on here; it transfers itself vocally pitch-side.

If Stokes is the best left back we have than fuck me , a dead corpse could defend better than the useless twat, Shocking at Barnsley and shocking saturday. We cannot afford to carry someone who the opposition is licking their lips at every week.

Whenever I've seen Stokes he's looked pretty solid.

Didn't see him at Barnsley, but away at Sheffield, home against MK and at home on Saturday he looked reasonable.

He may have been at fault for one of the goals but all of our players have a mistake in them and that doesn't make them a bad player.

Whatever happened to our first choice left back Danny Pugh?

He is certainly a lot better than fans favourite Haynes.

He wasn't shocking at Barnsley. He is much better defensively than Haynes. Doesn't get forward as much which is maybe why people are getting at him.

I think ultimately people don't like to be wrong. There were so many slagging him off prior to even seeing him play because of where he has come from that he would have to be world class for people to accept they were wrong in their initial uninformed judgement.

So you're just going to ignore the other games he played well in then? And he wasn't shocking at Barnsley either. If it wasn't for the fact that he's come from Forest Green hw wouldn't be getting anywhere near this level of abuse. Pathetic.

He wasn't even our worst defender. Martin was embarrassingly bad.

No what is pathetic is his defending, his attributes that offer nothing, and the way he was easily ripped vs both Barnsley, MK and Port Vale, absolute shocking defender and certainly no league one standard.

Hes a liability and will be seen as the weak link by every opposition manager, Vale saw it on Saturday when they switched Marshall to attack him.

I don't care where he has came from, he is certainly not good enough and was a panick signing by Waggott and his little mate Hockaday.

TM said he leaned heavily on hockaday and macfarlane for his first game, he has now seen everyone play be it first team, academy or u21 development team.

if he thinks stokes aint up to it i am sure haynes will start tonight. so chill with the still man

After tonight's game my opinion on Stokes has gone down again, he does the basics very badly and at best just lumps balls forward, his throw-ins put us under pressure and his crosses on the overlap either go out or too long and put us on the back foot. Haynes all day for me!

He was better today imo, I was very critical of him after Port Vale but he did ok today I thought.

He started nervously and was skinned too easily within the first five minutes but improved as the game went on.

If he was 'targeted' today as the 'obvious' weakness in the team, it wasn't evident so either a) he wasn't targeted as a weak link or b) he was defensively solid.

It's not stokes fault that he is the best we can afford. Pressley obrien and Webster should hang their heads in shame for Ryan Haynes disappearance from the first team

First time I've seen him play, thought he was awful. Constantly gave the ball away.

Haynes much better imo.

Another dreadful performance, anyone who says he is decent has clearly never played football at a decent level or is used to watching shit.
