McCann could drop into the left CB position. Mowbray mentioned he could play there in a telegraph article. We're really spread thin though still.

Should have gone with an op over injection during the close season in the first place. This is the last thing we needed

Im sure losing 15 players and no replacing even half of the squad will not effect our club. No recgnisd quality in our defence but im sure in robbie keans sisu tinted world we will be fine eh lol

So resigning hunt and Henderson would be a sign of progress?

Yep turning away crap as thats all we can afford and agents know it as we are desperate.
Cant wait nick when one day you realise sisu are running this club into the ground, selling anything they can and cutting the wages and outgoings to the bone.

Once theyve exhausted their legal attemps to get their money back they will walk away leaving us with nothing and tm wont be anywhere to be seen.
Perhaps you might even realise you were wrong then

I reckon there's a decent player in Henderson... at centre back.

Panic over Martin being released and Stokes needing an operation.

Yes I think Martin deserved a new contract, but the rub was Mowbray saw him as a squad player and his wage was too high. I think Vincelot was in the same situation. So at this level you have to shuffle your pack, often lighten the budget before you can draft in. Stokes injury is bad luck.

But this time last year 90 per cent of fans were calling for Martin to be released and 50 per cent of fans had written Stokes off as a failed non league player.

I just wish some of our fans could sign up to a big dose of reality of where the club is at. It doesn't matter who you blame, Mowbray and Venus have a tough job. So do the other clubs in League 1.

We are in League 1 aren't we?

We have signed decent league 1 players so far, it is as if some people want to just rush out and buy loads of crap so they can say we have signed 15 players. All of them dog shit like Manset, Edge and Malaga.

Mowbray has a league 1 budget, he knows how much he has to spent so has to work within it. Like pretty much every other club in league 1.

Rant rant rant rant rant froth.

If Pressley was still manager we'd have a really shit squad with no budget left by now

As usual grendel you talk shit. Dont think i mentioned signing either of those two did I. We all know that TM pre season plans are in tatters and his targets have gone els where as we cant compete with a packet of peanuts.

The club is being run on a shoestring and no money is being put back in the club. An owner of a company who has no intention of progressing it or making it sucessful so whats the point of being here.

Can people please stop mentioning Reda as a possible solution to any problem. He is an additional problem not a solution to anything.

That's a big problem.

The only reason we stayed up two years ago was that he replaced Haynes at left back.

Now letting Martin go looks really dumb. Surely we've not got Haynes in defence for the foreseeable future - trouble ahead.

I agree and possibly the same is true regarding Philips.

It appears we only have three fit senior defenders, and one of those is Haynes, the other two being Ricketts, who lost form dreadfully in the back half of last term, and Willis who seems very injury prone and on whom the jury must still very much be out (and is only 21 FFS)..

Worrying. I know we can sign more players but with Stokes out, we need maybe up to 5 defenders.... a main right back, a first choice CB to partner Willis, two back-up CBs, and some short term cover for Haynes, or replacement for Stokes. We thus appear to be woefully under-strength.

Personally I think TM does not rate Haynes, just as he probably doesn't rate Finch, but as they are both still under contract it made little sense to use up budget paying them to leave early.

Absolutely agree. But all managers do it. They are always trying to get games out of players when they are less than fit. Remember the days of the routine pain-killing injections.

Seem to remember Stuart Pearce being told he was having a Cortisone Injection when he signed for us. Said it was fine as he only had a Ford Fiesta at Wealdstone

Why on earth are people suggesting Reda, he isn't back in full training yet. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Stokes play again before Reda.

With Stokes he was trying to sign two wing backs and a couple of CB's
So yes you may be right potentially 5 defenders now depending how bad the injury is

Same here. To go from non league into the old First Division, straight into the first team and look like you had been playing there all your life says a lot about his quality. He was a great servant to England as well.

"Stokes could be out for anything up to three months depending on what the surgeon finds and, bearing in mind he’s been unable to do a pre-season this summer and will therefore need to regain his fitness once recovered from the procedure."

We have been unlucky with injuries to key players in recent seasons. Wilson, Maddison, Martin, Willis now Stokes.
