Where we heading?

Been to Longton Rugby Club before - quite a good place for pre-match stuff, but difficult to get out if you are driving.

Never been the Harvester - just doesnt appeal.

The Terrace is close to the station, welcoming and used to have the shuttle buses running near by, if on the train. I've messaged them to see if that's still the case.

The LRV (Student Union) also similar to the The Terrace. Messaged them too.

Hem Heath CC, close to the ground, away fans welcome but similar exit issues if parking there.

Any other recommendations? We'll be there mid morning, so looking for some scran and decent beers.

Newcastle Under-Lyme is a good place for a drink before heading into Stoke - We stopped there once before we played Port Vale

The Glebe in the city centre is decent, we have been there the past 2 years pre match. Mixture of home & away fans but the locals seemed well behaved & serves a nice Staropramen. I was in the Harvester 3 years back when we won 1-0 and it seemed to attract a few dickhead locals.

The Glebe used to be a regular haunt of mine when I was a student up there, many moons ago. Some good lock-ins where had! But it's not a very big place, can imagine it's gets packed quickly.

Gardeners Retreat is probably closest but away fans may be barred, try the Man In Space in Trentham but it's a good stretch of the legs to the Bet365.
Or there's The Hems Heath which is the opposite end of Sir Stanley Matthews Way to the ground or The Trentham Hotel.

The Terrace would be a safe bet straight off the train. Likely we'll be there at this rate.

Ive checked the met office snow maps and at the minute we are missing out on the worst of it and possibly stoke will too, looks like Birmingham will be hit hardest, trains could be an issue

According to the Stoke forum as of last night only 4K home tickets have been sold. Even though we've sold 5K i reckon only about 3K will turn up especially with the bad weather predicted.

Its normally a nightmare getting away from the car parks but with a crowd of about 8K it will be fine.

The Terrace have replied:

"We are officially the away team pub for Stoke games. The shuttle buses no longer run from here but you can get an uber very easily. Pub opens at 10am on football days"

I think the shuttle bus still runs from the station so you could just walk back and jump on it. I'll try and get that confirmed though.

There were quite a lot of pubs to drink at pre footie kick off but like everywhere else they've long gone.
If the game is on safe journey to all of you that go.
