I’d go 6s and 7s all round, make your mind up which way - nobody really stood out to be honest, either good or bad - probably give Grimes, Bobby and Torp 7.5

5 of them points for Thomas are for the great winner obviously he gave the ball away a few times today , and if he cuts them mistakes out he’s a 7 or 8 most weeks.

MvE, Grimes and Thomas (for the goal) the standouts .
Notable performances by Eccles and Torp who I thought harried and chased everything as well as being progressive with the ball. Torp gets the plaudits for his goals but Eccles was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet too

MVE , Saka & Torp 8 .
Rest solid 7's .
Subs Wright still rusty & needs minutes
BTA works hard but just isn't good enough. Head down , loses possession far too frequently.

Great result PUSB

Thought MVE, Saka and Grimes were outstanding.
Hopefully MVEs injury not too bad, we'd have lost today without him on from the start.

Ref, dogshit, absolutely awful.

BTA can’t come into the team again like today.

I thought we lost some shape once Simms came off. He keeps the CBs very busy to give others freedom.

I thought he might have put BTA and Haji left when he brought him on but perhaps he hasn't got the energy for it at the moment.

I thought Asante was very poor and cost us a goal

BTA was more involved than EMC, takeaway the penalty incident and and he was a passenger for most of the game.

Giving a goal away is definitely more involved!
EMC was clearly told to stay wide, he pretty much hugged the touchline where as his oppo Saka was popping up all over the place. Must have been tactical.
Also, the Lati ball across the 6 yard box, if EMCs on the pitch I'd say he's on that though maybe Asante had instructions not to over commit at that stage

Dovin 6 Some dodgy kicks

MVE 8 MOTM The very best of Milan van Ewijk
Thomas 7
Kitching 7
Dasilva 7 He’s clearly serviceable at LB

Grimes 7 Absolutely crucial to the way we set up with 4ATB, very classy player
Eccles 6
Torp 7 A midfielder arriving late in the box, you say?

Sakamoto 8 Worked his socks off
Simms 6
Mason-Clark 6

BTA 5 The wrong sub at the wrong time - could we not have risked Wright a few mins earlier?

Allen 6

Van Ewijk and Sakamoto both brilliant
Torp and Grimes also good.

Simms looked ineffective but I thought it was noticeable when he was off the pitch. Didn't stick as much up front

Yeah. I am not going to slate him and just condemn him as terrible player in general. Not my style.

His touch today though was abysmal at times and that attempt to dribble his way through 4 defenders, was just nonsensical.

Hard to see how he gets to feature right now.

MVE was excellent before limping off.
Kept his man quite, got forward well, and got an assist!

M.o.m a toss up between MVE and Torp surely.

How would you actually be able uk rate Torp. Without the goals he was treading water after 15 minutes, didn’t track back and generally off the ball was poor. Yet scored two great goals.

Not my motm but special praise for Dasilva today, who I wouldn't have played and don't really rate but thought he did really well against a lot of pace.

Thought Dovins distribution bar the one kick straight out, was excellent today. He was finding much deeper players in space regularly.

Actually yeah tbf I’d forgotten about that one excellent long pass out under pressure in the first half

My overall view on Dovin is that he’s not quite the messiah that everyone seems to think he is but he’s still been a very good signing (despite my indifference towards keepers in general)

Neither Simms nor Wright had anything going on up front today. Seems to be a recurring theme with this formation.

I think he’s our best keeper and I think he’ll get better and if he can play like he did today but more so we can be very effective at beating the press. He’s not perfect but the stats show he’s a good keeper at this level ignoring the on the ball stuff.
