Either that or a narrow win / loss. That covers all possible outcomes right?

Toughest game of the season, away from home and they are flying. I would be happy with a draw. A win would be huge, going into the break 7 points clear of 3rd.

We're not a team that gets battered imo. Think it'll be tight and they'll play to nick a narrow one. Hopefully we have enough going the other way.

Big big game
The sort of game we love football for
They’ve scored for fun last two games but not before
I’d play the same team that started but with emc not Bta left

Really don’t know what to expect from this one. Stoke look like they have some decent players in wide areas.

Think I’d also go same line-up as Portsmouth away with Wolfy in the middle. Maybe that’s showing them too much respect?

I won’t be crying if anyone sings the Mark Robins song like a lot of posters on here. That being said, I draw the line at the @covcity4life fever dream with Lampard and Robins in a 3-way kiss.

Though they won 3-0 last night, the xG was 1.8-2.2, so it's not as though Oxford didn't get chances.

We've only failed to score twice all season, back us to do so again. The issue will be at the other end.

Is it inconceivable to leave Haji out?

The old Skyblue thinking is the blight of many a game. I think Frank will instill confidence in them. We will win this.

Bookies have us slight favourites.

Yes they've scored goals in their last couple of games but before that they'd only scored 5 in 8. They are not by any means a free flowing, free scoring side.

Manhoef and Thomas are the ones to keep quiet. Manhoef was on my personal shopping list when he was in Holland, cracking little player. I will say, they should worry about us too, i wouldn't swap our 11 for theirs, far from it! I'm not liking this bypassing the midfield thing really but it seems to be the only answer we have to Rudi being out, so probably just go with the second half team and rely on our front 4 causing problems.

Same could be said of the Millwall and Pompey games, Even Norwich at the time.

Assuming we don’t play the 4 attackers who do you leave out?

On paper this will be our toughest game so far this season but who wouldn't fancy us to get something given where we are and our goal scoring stats

You forgot about Baker and Mubama who are scoring threats as well.

After 13 games, Stoke have shown they are a better team than those mentioned. Away at 2nd place against our former manager.

I should have added "yet" as there will be more down the road as the league transforms.

Stoke under robin's have done remarkably well so far. They are not prolific in front of goal, and though they hit a few the last couple of games , it says more about the opposition than Stoke. Robin's typically sets up to not lose first and formost in a game like this. (boy would he love to win this now). He will set up cautious Satuday so don't expect Stoke to run around us. We must nulify any quick start to their momentum. They are strong at the back, and don't give anything away. So it looks like cancelling each other out. If we play with our swagger and confidence returning (second half against Sheff.Utd) then I don't think Robin's will have the answer.
Got to be our same team and attack them. Get EMC to play his heart out for 45 minutes, get ahead by 2 and then close it down bringing a midfielder on like Allen over EMC, and even Eccles over Asante just after half time. See the game out. We can win this. Tactics will play a part in this. Give Wright the first half to show what he's about and if still underperforming Simms is deserving of 45 minutes.

Why such negativity about this game?? don't you think they will be as worried about us, seeing how we've blown some teams away and fought back against others.

This is old pessimistic CCFC thinking ffs, we're in the new era now and should be more confident about this teams ability.
A third of the way through, we're 4 points clear, with a disgusting +goal difference, we are the real deal this year.

They're better away from home than at home so far this season. I assume they play a fairly counter attacking style.
