Erm I think this one’s best left alone - most anticlimactic first game of the season I can remember in years

Put it this way, it’s the first time I’ve seen Stoke score against us at that ground and it was my 5th visit

Expectation was sky high that day, probably fuelled by the friendly win against Everton when we looked superb. The away end that day was really bouncing before the game. I was high up in the corner and it was the loudest noise I have ever experienced, at football or anywhere else for that matter. My ears were absolutely ringing. Maybe being close to the roof had something to do with the acoustics that day but that was truly an occasion when I couldn’t hear myself think.

Not shown on the highlights on here, but Simms had a run through on goal in the first minute. Had he scored, which he should have done, then Stoke may have lost another stadium roof, this one blown off by the noise. Also, had he scored we could very well have had a different start to the season and Mark Robins might have still been over here instead of over there.

Awful....Thought we'd score after a minute when Simms went through. Best it got. Stoke were poor but we had no intensity, drive and even at 1-0 down created absolutely nothing With all the hype about the season, a defeat was hard to take, but to look so disinterested, and slow was a real reality check,

Yep - we were crap, then had to face the p*ss taking Stokies mocking the 'wooh' in twist and shout after the match.

We’d had a pre season where our fans and others were tipping us to challenge for autos. I genuine expected to batter Stoke and take the piss out of teams all season.

Certainly a lesson learnt on overconfidence…..

There are times like then that I really hate us.

We were wank.

Failed to turn up. I was angry and almost disbelieving that day after all the talk of promotion, not just here but from the club and the players. In retrospect it was the coaching situation of course...

Ha ha genuinely so depressing

Even before the goal went in we were flat and obviously not living up to the pre season billing.
