Having loans in the squad is not a bad way of bolstering squad. Can be part funded by their parent club, can be motivated at the opportunity and it can be a longterm strategy to bring someone in permanently; try before you buy.
But like anything you have to do your homework and back it up with a recruitment filter.
The bottom line is sourcing and recruiting good players is more difficult than fans imagine!
