Reading sack Steve Clarke, does that mean they move for Tony Mowbray as mentioned in last weeks Football weekly podcast?

I think they would have already had a plan in place for who they wanted from when Clarke was talking to Fulham.

would you take Steve Clarke as a replacement for Tony if they do come in for him?

Not a bad shout. I would, but i highly doubt Mogga will leave. He doesn't seem like one of those managers that are swayed by money. He's here to do a job and the job isn't done yet. But under the highly unlikely circumstances he does leave, i wouldnt mind having Clarke

TM has control of pretty much everything football wise here why would he go somewhere that has a director of football person in place already as he wouldn't have Venus with him and it is obvious they work well together.

Managers are no different from players really. It's not about loyalty, their club is no more than their current employer. If they get an offer that they see as a career progression they will take it. They are not like fans.

I sincerely hope Mowbray stays for at least this season. But obviously others will be taking notice of what he has done here, especially on such limited resources. It is inevitable other clubs will be sniffing around so lets hope we can repel them.

Bet he wished he'd taken the Fulham post now (although I'm sure ! He was becoming a high profile manager having been at West Ham and The Baggies (I think) added to his experience at Liverpool and Chelsea although he really has taken a battering in the past couple of years.

Mowbray isn't even in the betting. Aren't Reading owned by Thais? I think they will go for a manager who's managed in the Prem recently like Sherwood or Pearson

Like I said in the closed thread, I doubt TM will forsake his project for a tenuous Championship job. Not likely.

Be cool, bitches, be cool.

I seriously doubt it, he's been brilliant in the last 10 months or however long it it, but we aren't even half way through the season, and he hasn't achieved anything yet?
TM had Middlesbrough in the play offs 2/3 seasons running at Christmas then they had a terrible second half of the season? Let's see how we do over a season, he hasn't achieved anything yet here. It would be silly for Reading to go for him at this point. I think even he personally would like to get another promotion under his belt, which is far more likely here.

Might have made it clear he's not worth approaching as he's found himself the perfect challenge and won't jump ship!

can you imagine the conversation of a prospective chairman talking to Fisher about a fee for letting Mogga go to his club! Fisher would say £3 million.

This
Reading sack Steve Clarke for holding Fulham talks - and target Nigel Pearson to replace him

Anyway Mowbray is not going there, Pearson is.

I don't think TM would be interested in going anywhere......yet.

He has been manager at bigger clubs. He must have been on a decent wage. And he doesn't seem to be the sort of person who would have squandered his money earned as a player. It was him that decided to take a break after his last job. If he needed money he wouldn't have taken a rest.

The one problem that we could have is if we get promoted that he falls out with SISU over funding. He took so long to make sure the contract signed was what was needed. Full control of the playing budget. But would SISU be stupid enough to risk losing him to put a little bit of cash in their pockets?

Faith, logic and...faith.

There's chance in anything/everything, however I too simply can't see TM leaving. Yet.

I thought that, but then I hesitated in case the question was obvious.

They say you should never go back! Clough to Burton Mcdermott to Reading could be a recipe for a dip in form.
