He's nearly 37. He hasn't played for nearly 2 years and averaged a goal every 8 games in his last 2 years in the championship.

With that goal ration I would say he is just the ticket.

At least he has experience.

Don't think anybody seriously considering him playing for us now, but a very good striker.

Scored 19 in the season after leaving us for Southampton.

Would Dion be the last player to score that many for us?

Have we scored that many this season???

I don't disagree. To say you would not have Stern John now as a 30 year old is a bit hard to credit given the players we do have.

Just to put this one to bed... He moved from dickens Heath to America about 1 year ago. The estate agents I work for have an office in Dickens Heath and they sold his house.

Not having a pop here, but didn't McAllister take a lot of stick when he played for the club?

Certainly not from me. True class both times and if anything better the second time around imo. I think he was carp manager though.

Can anyone name a midfielder who didn't get constant stick from many fans?
Let me start:
Dennis Wise.

That's probably the one and only. We always overrate defenders and forwards and slag off the midfield.

A lot of people hated Doyle, I'd love for him to be back now!

This is a sweeping generalization. Few got adulation like wise but many just pass you by. In my youth yorath was a hero. In a prior post you I thunk mentioned one of my least favorite players Sean Flynn. Fans liked him. I didn't and his right side but a midfielder.

Stern John what is he up to these day as he not in football anymore. I like to see him return back here as i thought he did OK for the sky blues, and help us as we need experience players to come in.

Posh turned down Emile Sinclair move to Coventry City.

Stern John had a decent record with us scoring 26 league goals in 78 games and that would be the equivalent of scoring 15 in a 46 game season

He had I admit a rather "laid back" style BUT this didn't detract from his exceptional ball control and first touch.

So a tad unfair in deriding old Sterny (36 on 30th Oct this year) me thinks as there were others worse over the years.

A fair few did the norm and slagged Wise off before he played for us
