In his first full season in the game he's looked head and shoulders above the likes of Mason, Brown, Grimmer McCallum. Granted he's had a shaky start and has tailed off, but I reiterate, it's his first full season in the game and that's to be expected. From his performances this season (especially in middle months of the campaign) I'd fully expect him to feature in the Championship next season. Each to their own as football will always split opinion but failing to understand how you believe he's not looked better than what we've got. Especially as he's kept Grimmer, who was a fan favourite i might add, out of the side all season.

I made the same mistake with Stokes, as much a i liked him, he couldnt really defend for toffee

Great young player who will look better at the next level with better players surrounding him.

Perhaps a little end of season fatigue and perhaps heart not fully in it, but still shows obvious class. Some of the balls pinged out to him yesterday by Davies weren't great, but he made them into good balls by killing it with a perfect first touch. I'd say he also looks better away, but that could be because of our counter attacking and more space but also pitches better than the Ricoh's.

Mmm, has done ok but hasn’t really set the world alight for me. Will probably get better now he has a full season in the locker and with better players around him.

Resigned to him going back to Chelsea and not returning I think he has a plan in mind as to his future and I expect him to go championship next season, somewhere like Brentford, Millwall. He won’t be easy to replace, perhaps another loanee from somwhere.
As his performance yesterday he was like the rest about average in a typical end of season game.

I think Sterling is the best full back we've had this season, yes his form has dropped off at times, but that's to be expected with younger players who are learning the trade.

I wouldn't mind Sterling back at City next season, I can't imagine he's going to be in the Championship or near Chelsea's team next season.

He had a fantastic middle section, but has looked tired and completely lost his attacking impetus the last few months. That isn’t what you want as an outlet at RB. It isn’t anything to do with Thomas either, it’s clear Thomas plays to instructions, hence why some games he’s hugging the touchlines and others he’s narrow.

I have no problem with players passing backwards/sideways when required to retain possession, but that isn’t always his reason for doing so.

He has obvious superior technical attributes (e.g. first touch), especially when compared to other players in their first season (Mason, McCallum etc). That should be expected given his academy experience.

Solid RB and definitely contributed to our season, but not the end of the world to lose him. We’ve seen a few decent RB’s in L1, never mind in youth teams etc, which I’m sure MR/AV will look to as well.

He’ll have a good career I’m sure, but I’d like to see him offer more in games.

NB. I’m not saying Grimmer is a better player.

Lads clearly got ability but his performances over a season won’t leave a lasting impression. Certainly grew in his time here with his lowest point against Bristol Rovers.

However If i was to asses his time here it would be he’s clearly got great ability but felt he could of done a lot more in games. Application and desire needs more to have a greater impact in games. With that he could of been a stand out player by applying that extra yard or two of pace he has.

Clearly knackered from a first long season but should of been dropped weeks ago. I’m not sure on the full deal with Chelsea about the loan but cannot help think it’s shut the door prematurely on Jack Grimmers CCFC career who should rightly look to leave this summer.

MR clearly has alternative plans for the RB spot.

CC4Life, I enjoy your postings on here, whether I agree with them or not, I think you contribute a lot to the forum, so I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, I just honestly want to know, how is it humanly possible to make that many typos (if you can call them that)? Do you have thumbs the size of an Orca?

It's the same as Philosoraptor and his form table thing. Absolutely no idea what it means, but it brings something to the forum and gives me a chuckle everytime. Beats the usual 'SISU APOLOGIST', 'DO YOU WORK FOR THE COUNCIL' tripe we are usually subjected to.

Start a poll then.

He was very good in the middle.
Average at the end.
Poor at the start.

How can you possibly disagree with that?

'Average at the end' is a little different to 'For the last couple of months he has been a passenger though. Been very poor generally'!

I think in fairness when you've got the unpredictability of Thomas in front of you it'd be hard to go forwards as much as you'd like as a right back.

I think thats unfair on Thomas, as he works his socks off tracking back and breaking up play.
I think Thomas would be a fullbacks ideal man.

I'm being generous in my last post. He's not been very good at all, but measure that up to the start of the season and it's better, although not as good as he was in the middle. Hence average.

I know you're another one that seems to have a soft spot for him, but it's hard to argue with that isn't it?

I can’t be the only one who thinks he’s gone backwards recently. I will never understand why he constantly stops mid run. He didn’t look bothered today. Personally think his head is in another place. I can’t be the only one surely?
Was brilliant middle of the season but has lost his spark.

Personally I think he is brilliant and deserved to win the PFA young player of the year.

Sterling has lot his spark a little bit, but still very consistent and very, perhaps overly, comfortable at this level. The idea that he should have been 'dropped weeks ago' is laughable. Our form over the second half of the season (22 games with 1 remaining) would have been enough to get us into the play offs this season with 73 points.

I wholly agree with your point, but what I meant was the direction of his runs, will he cut inside, will he take the man on and push wide, for a player with inexperience like What we saw of Sterling yesterday, it showed and he looked uncertain going forward. Not saying he doesn't have the ability just not the experience or judgment. But yes, full credit to both of them in terms of tracking back

Had a few short term loan deals at National League North sides and had mixed success there. Might be a decent back up option but don't see him as a viable option next season personally

He's a cracking player, but he has struggled the last 8-10 games, and grimmer if fit should have come back in.

He should turn round then lol..
When he first started playing for us he was garbage but then he started playing in a way that AV knew he could and looked pure class now whether he is knackered now or cant be arsed is open to debate but from watching him myself when going forward he is still quite classy but chasing back doesnt appear to be putting in quite as much effort
