I'm interested in buying this to see what went on at Cov during the 97/98 season

Has anyone read it before? is it worth the read?

Cheers

It's a really good book and is definitely worth a read. I think even for a non-Coventry fan, it's just a good football book.

I've just ordered myself a copy, can't wait to give it a read to see what went on. Even Gordon Strachan, despite stating it's a great read... he said he would have never allowed the author into the camp if he knew what he was going to churn out for the book.

It's a good read - I also went to an author's evening in the Guild Hall where Rick was talking about the book, and some of the things that were and were not in it. As an example he was originally banned from telling the Dion Dublin, Bryan Richardson story - then we sold him - and the story was in.

Almost true......

The story was always in the book. This upset Dion who complained to the club who consequently stopped selling the book in the club shop. Once Dion was on his way to Villa, it magically reappeared on the shelves.

Hmmm - lets say Bryan considered Dion gifted in more than one area.

I think it was Sir Alex who first raised the subject after we'd bought him.....

Yep have read it. A good book indeed and interesting that he had such access. If I remember rightly though he was frozen out by Strachan at some of the games and was not welcome. Even a non CCFC fan would find this sort of stuff interesting.

Tut tut. Had some of our best times with the old chancer at the helm. I know what you think but I would take him over anything that followed.

Amazing really. You continually slag Thorn off for not winning ten games away from home and us being third from bottom. Yet Richardson is OK although he sold our ground, blew all the money from player sales on an neverending spiral of expensive crap replacements, awarded himself £400K for selling retail space to Tesco. Taking an £80K loan every year. Being the third highest paid managing director in the football league...a chancer? FFS. He's the reason we are where we are.

I knew that would get you going. It wasn't really a wind up though. Look at Birmingham and west ham if they fall over and don't get up they will be bust. Nothing changes the premier league is a drug and if you come off it the reality is always painful. I am not stupid or blind to what went on but personally he bought some good times to the club.

Well personally, I'll be having a BBQ when he dies, even if it's mid-winter.

I'm not a fan of Bryan Richardson the way Torchomatic is, I'd take his non-disclosure agreement insert it somewhere the sun doesn't shine and get some daylight into what really happened to CCFC.
