“Yes the club was almost £40 million in debt, losing about £8 million a year. We have forecast to reduce the losses significantly. And all the debts including the bank, long term creditors etc have been cleared. We’re now one of only three clubs in the country that is debt free"

I'm sure someone once said if Andy Thorn managed West Ham instead of Sam Allardyce they'd be 10 points better off.

Can't remember who said it so can't find a link

"My key role is to convince the owner to finance this asset," says Fisher, who is a banker specialising in financially "distressed" companies. "Coventry City is a fallen angel, a Premiership brand now in the third tier. The club has an incredibly loyal fan base and I am confident in telling the owners that if they continue to fund it, it will bounce back to the Championship."

Speaking after the Telegraph broke news of the Sky Blues Ricoh Arena return, Coun Phil Townshend said time was needed for trust to be rebuilt before looking at the potential of the council agreeing a deal for ownership of the Ricoh ArenaThe with the club.

Bryan Richardson at his best,

Coventry confident of brighter future

8th May 2001

"Coventry will join Bradford and Manchester City in the Nationwide League next term but Richardson has told The Sky Blues faithful not to shed too many tears over the club's relegation.
Richardson admitted that it was a sad moment for City - whose fate was confirmed after their 3-2 defeat Aston Villa at the weekend - but also revealed his belief that it may herald the start of brighter times at Highfield Road.
He said: "It was upsetting but I honestly believe it might be a great, great day for us because it gets us off the treadmill"

I wonder what happened to Manchester City after their relegation.........

Why do you get shot down for that? RR was a billy bullshitter, we were never debt free just that the debt was shifted from external sources (I.e. banks, etc) to sisu. I don't know why anyone really believed him. We've continued to lose £6-7m pa until the last year or so.

Did RR say that or not? wether he was "Billy Bullshitting" or not isn't the issue here is it! It's the same when I stated RR said "Make £20m ready to take the Club forward" I was called a liar by many on here. The essence is he DID say those things

Ray Ranson on how Chris Hussey and Richard Wood were better than Dann and Fox...... hahahhahaha

I read comments by Danny Fox recently, who was talking about the challenge of playing at a bigger club because, with all due respect to Coventry, it is a mid-table Championship club. That’s where we are at the moment.

“Scott Dann went to Birmingham for five times what he was getting here. Would we have liked to keep hold of them? For sure, and if we had been in the play-offs at the end of last season it could have been a different ball game and they might have said they will give us another year here

"But we have effectively replaced those players with Chris Hussey and Richard Wood, who will go on to be as good, if not better.”

Ray Ranson on short term thinking and why the club shouldn't buy 50% of the Ricoh arena.....muppet

Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has said that even if the 50% share of the Ricoh Arena was to be bought, it would not be worth it financially.

Speaking to the CT, two years after taking over, Mr Ranson said: “I am here to make decisions in the best interests of Coventry City for the short, medium and long term,” he said, speaking just short of his second anniversary at the helm. “Short-term thinking only has one outcome, and that’s failure"
