Thomas and Clarke will almost certainly start on Saturday. But you could swap them with Seabourne and Swanson and it would be equally as strong. You could argue that Barton won't be on the bench unless Pressley does a U-turn and gives him a squad number.

Personally I'd prefer we sign a new cm, but the way he's been talking up Barton suggests he's in with a chance of staying. Perhaps having been injury free for a while now and with a pre season under his belt, he'll start performing to his potential.

Bump this thread when we are selling off for a mil in January

Sorry thought you meant baker. That said no guarantee he would have scored that many for us, given that Gillingham was set up to play to his style, direct/long ball playing off a target man.

He just has an instinct for finishing.
If he was in our team last season I am confident he would have scored as many if not more.

Our strength last season was creating chances

Oh would he now, and which one of Clarke and Wilson would you had have him replace then?

TBF
The season before us and since he left
He has played 91 scored 46
Goal every two games you just can't do that without been an instinctive finisher.

If he was playing for us this season 20+ easily I would say

I don't think he has. We scored a lot of goals because of Clarke and Wilson, and their attributes and their partnership.. Just look at how we struggled when we only played one of them.

Again his season before us at Gillingham, playing off a big target man, in a team playing direct/long ball football, that's what he thrives on. He hasn't got the technique to play in a passing team. Thorn was never that convinced by him, Robins wouldn't play him and neither would SP.

You said the style we play he would not have scored as many for us. (Nothing about Wilson and Clarke)

I think he would have scored more than he did at Gillingham because we create chances loads of them and he is a natural finisher.

It was a hypothetical discussion about if our playing style suits him or not.

CCFC missed the point.

Personally I don't think he would, because we wouldn't have created as many chances with him up top instead one of Clarke or Wilson.

He missed an awful lot of chances for us.

Let's not forget that over half of those goals were in league two...

I think Clarke missed loads for us last season
Felt like a bit of an Andy Cole scenario with him
