Starting XI:

Murphy
Clarke Malaga Wood Hussey
Jennings
Barton Thomas
Fleck
Cody Elliott

Subs: Dunn, Edge, Christie, Kilbane, Baker, McShef, Ball*

*Hopefully we replace him.

With that, I think top 3 is realistic, but we'll prob come top 6.

I think Baker has more than earned his place after last night.

Edge and Chrisite deserve to play infront of Wood and Clarke, while they are injuried

Knowing Baker, he'll do shite against Crewe, he's too hit and miss.

He staked his claim to start, it's a close one for the 'hole' position!

Bit harsh to drop Edgey from centre-half. Baker - I agree - should have the shirt until 'the real Carl Baker' reappears. Or for longer if he's now vanquished that ghost

First and second 11:

Murphy
Clarke Malaga Wood Hussey
Jennings
Thomas Barton
Fleck
McDonald NewLoanStriker

Dunn
Christie Cameron Edge Kilbane
Daniels
Bell Baker
McSheffrey
Elliot ROD

Both those teams should be top 6 with a decent manager.

I like Elliot, but I still feel we can get better on loan. Brown and Ball should be sent back.

Ah come on, Baker and Edge have to start!
Edge looks far more convincing than Malaga and against greater opposition.
Can't drop Baker after that performance as well, he's had two great games in a few days and hopefully has set the tone for his season!

That's bullshit. Elliot was magnificent last night, he'll be great foil for Cody this year as well as popping up with a few himself. I don't feel we can get better on loan, maybe we can get another striker on loan, but I doubt he'll be better and warrant a starting place.

Assuming Shaw sticks with the diamond...

Murphy

Clarke - Edge - Wood - Hussey

Jennings

Barton - Kilbane

Fleck

McDonald - Elliott

I don't really see how Baker and Fleck can play in the same team in the diamond. You'd have to drop Barton, who I think looks too good to drop!

My personal choice would be...

Murphy

Clarke - Edge - Wood - Hussey

Jennings - Kilbane

Baker - Barton - Fleck

McDonald

I think this would bring the best out of the three players behind Cody.

Murphy
Christie - Edjenguele - Wood - Hussey
Jennings
Barton ------------- Kilbane
Fleck
McDonald - Elliot
EDIT - Forgot Barton... First name on my teamsheet
Subs: Dunn, Thomas/McSheffrey, Clarke, Baker, Malaga

Reasoning: Baker's perfomances in general have been better of late (even late last season) and Thomas is too narrow for me - I liked the Diamond with Wide players. Edjenguele seems like a better defender than Malaga, not that he's bad either ofc but just pips it atm for me. I should probably fit Ball and Brown in their somewhere but I'm going on form and McSheffrey can play upfront (somehow Ball offers even less) as well as being able to play wide-left or CAM. As for Brown, why would I play him when Christie and Clarke are available unless I was forced to?
I can't understand why you wouldn't play Elliot - he's been outstanding. His workrate has been top class for us - fast and tireless.

Well the players that have shown real promise for us so far are

Clarke, Wood, Malaga, Edge, Kilbane, Barton, Baker, Fleck, McDonald, Jennings and Elliott Thats's 11 of them. We can't play them all, but we do at least have options and cover for injuries.
Personally I'd go:

..........................Murphy
Clarke..........Edge............Wood/Malaga...........Kilbane
.........................Jennings
Barton...................Fleck.............Baker ( not a rigid 3, can interchange and move around as necessary )
...................McDonald......Elliott

to be fair i would rotate Wood, Malaga and Edge

Edge is left footed, he will therefore have to be played on the left side of the centre back, leaving only Malaga and maybe brown to play right side, when cameron is fit, whoever the manager is will have a defensive nightmare in whom to pick as a centre-back pairing

Left footed players can play on the right hand side of the pairing and vice versa.

not every CB partnership in the world is Right foot/Left foot!

Yes i know but i'm pretty sure Edge doesn't like playing on the right hand side or doesn't fill his full potential when playing on the right hand side, they play them for a reason, not just what foot they use, postioning for tackles, if your left footed playing on the right and you go in for a tackle using your right foot i'm pretty sure you'd loose out on the tackle as you don't feel as comfortable whereas left footed players playing left hand side going in with their left foot will feel confident and comfortable and most probably win the tackle.

How about forgetting who you think is best and playing players that are playing best?

You may be right, but why bring in a loanee if they're not going to play? Would rather use Jeffers and ROD in that case.
