With Injuries etc could it be like this?

Allsopp

Willis - Johnson - Webster

Clarke - Swanson - Fleck - Obrien - Haynes

Tudgay - Jackson

When Pugh is back, it looks quite an experienced first 11 doesn't it?

Except for the total lack of genuine centre midfielders, yes.

Suddenly looks a very good side at this level. I don't why we didn't try 352 last season with Christie and Adams. Fleck & Thomas as a base with Moussa playing off Clarke and Wilson.

Really pleased with Jackson though, should be class in league one.

I think there is an argument for Haynes to keep his place ahead of Pugh if he keeps performing to a good level, we're also looking to bring in a centre half so Willis/Webster could yet be pushed out of that team.

Apart from that looks a decent team, could do with more attacking/pacey wing back instead of Clarke.

What a signing Jackson could be. Get him fit he will score goals in this league. Mega impressed with this signing...Feeling a lot more hopeful now.

Phillips to out on loan to a league two club to man up abit for me.. yes cameo roles looked ok, but not ready for week in week out consistent game time just yet... plus got ripped apart at Nuneaton in pre season.

i like swanson and o brien in midfield personally even if they are naturally wingers. give us a bit more drive, trickery and attacking intent than we usualy have on top of fleck the maestro inbetween them.

coubilally is nearing fitness too, will he play same position as swanson/obrien?

I do feel like we need a centre midfielder that will just sit there and bully people but i must say, fleck swanson and o brien dominated the midfield on saturday

Things suddenly looking up!

Good first 11 that, with a decent bench:

Burge
Miller
Baker
McQuoid
Thomas
Phillips
Daniels
Finch

Think the andy thorn diamond could work for us this season. Tudgay and jackson up front;
Fleck at the top, obrian and Swanson on the wings with the holding player behind (not thomas he needs a brake)

Haynes/Pugh, big reda, webster, clarke

Alsopp

What's good is we seem to have cover and competition in the squad now. A holding player is what we're missing and new centre half for cover.

Coubilally can play either wing, hes more of a wide player with out and out pace, and trickery..

I'm taking the piss. But do think we're more suited to 4-4-2 with the players we've brought in.

If 3-5-2 don't work for van gaal and united because of lack of holding players and true wing backs it ain't going to work for Elvis and his sky blues.

Can we not call it the Andy Thorn Diamond, it's just a diamond. He doesn't own the formation.

Everytime I see a team playing a diamond,
E. G Liverpool, I think of the Andy Thorn ways and why it didn't work for us.

Long live the Andy Thorn Diamond!

He was a good manager. Didn't he do well at kiddiminster?

Whenever I saw him he was smashed. Seems everyone says the same.

I used to use the diamond for all football video games, until Thorn sullied its name.

There's definitely "the diamond" and "the Andy Thorn diamond" in my mind.
