Reading all these various posts with supporter seemingly pitched against fellow supporter, it occurs to me that the owners are succeeding in dividing in order ultimately to rule.

I have read the posts supporting SISU and those supporting ACL. It seems that people either believe we are leaving the RICOH or we will be playing there; for my part I sincerely hope we stay put.

One scenario that seems to have evaded every single poster however is what happens if Fisher keeps to his word and leaves the RICOH. With no obvious use as a sports stadium what happens. As the owner of last resort the council will have to decide what is in the best interests of the council taxpayers of the city. Bear in mind that the supporters of the football club are only a minority of council taxpayers in the city as a whole then it could be a distinct possibility that the stadium is consigned to ultimate demolition and becomes another housing estate.

That's my scenario anyway.

Now awaiting the insults that seem to prevail on this forum so won't be arguing or responding to anyone.

So sad it's come to this but for me my support has come full circle from 3rd division and back again - but it's been one helluva rollercoaster ride - just hope it's not the end.

Think acl could keep profitable in the short term without a club! They would probably have 2-3 years to find alternative team to play there.

Wasps RFC have considered a relocation away from London I have heard and looked at The Ricoh as a venue.

The Ricoh is a great venue, far superior to Highfield Rd and is a viable facility because it can be adapted to all sorts of events.

Well they've made a decision to returf the pitch this close season.. so they believe that football (or some pitch based game) will be played there next season..


There are lots of things to be resolved yet.
1) SISU's judicial review about legality of CCC debt restructuring, should be towards end of August, then there may be an appeal.
2) Announcement of temporary home ground out of Coventry for SISU FC.
3) Approval by FL of SISU plan to relocate near Coventry & the time frame on that.
4) More likely the recommencement of SISU/ACL negotiations.
5) Emergence of CCFC Ltd from administration
6) Publication of CCFC group accounts, which are all overdue & 'in a mess', that has to happen before CCFC can trade players

All these will impact the decisions to be made.

When it all boils down to it I don't think we should worry too much. The stadium can partially survive without the football club but over time that would be unsustainable for ACl without the anchor tenant. It's therefore clear regardless of feelings that they need to negotiate with SISU now but lets hope the sensible thing is done and an arbitrator is appointed to do so...even the FL could make a request for that to be the case, though not with any legality, just common sense putting pressure on SISU to follow that recommendation, especially if they approve the buy out on Monday.

Short term can be done but long term who knows? A deal structured that will help sustain the club with access to the flaunted income streams has to be found.

I think it will get done by hook or by crook. If I was SISU the best moved for them too in order to appease large sways of fans would be to achieve that aim, so it's good for everyone.

There will be lots of talking and healing of wounds between now and the next week or so....

Lets reflect on point 1. Why Are SISU so miffed at CCC debt restructuring? I thought they wanted cheaper rent. Surely cheaper mortgage repayments for ACL brings that closer? For the people of Coventry rather than the interest on the mortgage going to the Yorkshire Bank it goes to CCC, a good long term investment.

The only reason for SISU to be annoyed about this is they were withholding rent to try and distress ACL. They have always wanted The Ricoh on the cheap, other wise they would have bought it on take over when it was on the table. And by the way they don't want it on the cheap for the benefit of Coventry City Football Club!!!

If the club does leave the Ricoh then ACL probably would have to look at other options for the stadium side of the business. I don't think they'd bulldoze it and put up housing because there would be far too much political loss of face, but keeping it as is (i.e. a stadium) without a team is something that might prove difficult in the long run. However in the short term the Ricoh doesn't look that unappealing as a business prospect especially with the railway station on the doorstep. Getting another team might not prove that difficult especially if it isn't football and hiring a decent head groundsman might be a sign that they are considering this as a possibility.

If they did put a roof over the pitch it would have to be see through to allow the grass to grow but would give the place a year round use even in inclement weather (I love that phrase). Although the match that should have been called off on December 18th a few years ago is a good indicator that they can keep the pitch playable in most circumstances. That being the match that I wanted to go to but was snowed in at a relatives and was stuck listening to CWR when assuming it was off, they announced that the bloody thing was still going ahead. But like the Murphys I'm not bitter.

Wasn't one of our sponsors on the black away kit a specialist Contractor in this field ,seem to remember Fletcher and the Cassidy's being involved ,got involved with a Ricoh mark2 project for a national stadium In India IIRC.

We will not be leaving the Ricoh. SISU do everything on the cheap. Free rent should be cheap enough for them. They will get a lot more of us going to games at our own ground than elsewhere. Staying at the Ricoh will be cheaper than building another ground that Cov council will not allow to be built locally.

SISU are full of shit. Why does anyone think they are being truthful for once? They want the Ricoh very cheaply so they can make money. Do they want the ground so they can then sell us and charge us rent for use of the ground? If so we would never be free from them. They have had many chances to start winning back our trust. I will never trust them now whatever happens.

if PHIV gets the stadium that will increase his hand with the FL for getting CCFC, if the FL throw out SISU made up story of building a stadium and moving to it in 3 years and living happy ever after then this could be a very good move by PHIV to show the FA the sky blues will have a home for the forseable future
