I've been telling people for years, Ed Sheeran isn't real, he's a hologram.
Why will no-one listen?

Doubt it.
Seen him before in Cardiff on his last tour so likely give this a miss.

looks like there’s a bit of Coldplay type stuff going on too - in that if you want access to ‘pre-sale’ tickets you have to pre-order the new album.
Otherwise you’d be waiting for the carnage of general sale For what would be only a relatively small amount of tickets.

Funny thing, go on amazon pre sale link and there's a link saying "no purchase necessary"
Click that and it counts as a pre sale

not sure you'd want a gig on the pitch in the middle of the season. and not sure many people would want to stand outside for hours in December!

Concerts at Wembley hold 82K as opposed to 89K for football due to the lost seats for the stage outweighing those spaces gained on the pitch. The sold out Harry Styles concerts at the CBS had 35K in attendance.

Isn't it around 40k when everyone's on the pitch throwing bottles of piss at each other,RHCP a distant memory!

Dunno mate. Rammstein had 30K, not sure if sold out, Harry Styles 35K which was. They were the last main acts at the arena that I can remember. Wouldn't be surprised if SAG have played a part in reducing it from earlier gigs.

Sheeran of course is flat, he just uses a voice changer to fix his singing voice.

Thats a cracking name to get in to kick off our ownership

If we can manage to attract 2 or 3 really big artists for the stadium bowl in the summer, and 4 or 5 every year in the exhibition hall, on top of the usual '2025 Cold tap conference'or whatever other boring bollocks is usually in there through the week, we will be laughing

Will be a lot more than 4 or 5 gigs in the indoor arena next year.

Should be aiming for 15+ really.

There must be plenty of bands that are too big for places like the O2 in Digbeth, if it's still called that, but not big enough for the NEC/NIA.

Still a huge potential money spinner if we plan the gigs to run in the off season.

Wonder what cut the stadium owner would get of a gig in the main arena? Flat fee for us and the artist gets ticket revenue I assume? Would we get all food and drink money?

Interesting to see the chosen model. It could be…

A) Flat Fee + F&B revenue.
B) No Fee + % of ticket revenue + % of F&B revenue

or another variation on that same theme. Merchandise is often a good money spinner too, but the rights are typically sold separately.

I don't believe the stadium gets any of the ticket money, it's usually a flat fee (but not always), I've read somewhere it is typically around 150K-200K for a 40,000 venue. I saw this on a post a while ago, so just going from memory and cannot say how accurate it is. They do tend to keep all f&b revenue and parking though, that I am sure of. Imagine average spend at a gig is high.

For the Ed Sheeran gig:

'Tickets price £95. + booking fee + venue facility fee + £1 levy for donation to the live trust.'

Looks like Doug has added a venue fee. An extra £20k

What's the capacity for the exhibition hall, is it 7K?

Believe it's 12,000 all standing. Grennan sold out 10,000 tickets but it was nowhere near as full in there compared to other venues you'd go.

The brochure suggests up to 12,000 standing. Hefty capacity really. Similar to Wembley arena.
