First time yesterday as I live overseas.
I hear lots of negatives about some of our fans at matches on here - and I have no doubt that we have a few idiots in our fan base. But all the fans I met yesterday were good blokes and very sound - starting with the young lads we spoke too on the train, the two lads we shared a taxi with and the other lads we spoke too at the game. It was the friendliest atmosphere that I've ever experienced at a City game. It appears to me that we are more united in having to travel to our 'home games.'
There's also far less negativity when things go wrong on the pitch than I remember at the Ricoh. The fans stayed patient and strongly applauded the team off at half time even after we went in 1-0 down. The team plays football that is fantastic to watch and I can't get enough of it right now.
At the end - the team also appeared as one to be genuinely applauding the fans. It seems that everyone is together. Just to end on that theme I got to meet Shipley and Biamou after the game - nicest lads you could imagine. It was a privilege to tell Ships he had a great game - he was fantastic yesterday and has a real future. Also was around when O'Hare (in my view our most exciting player in years) collected his man of the match award. Again seemed like a very sound lad with his feet on the ground.
In short - a fantastic experience and was made to feel welcome by everyone at BCFC as well. The icing on the cake was AB's brilliant goal - it's always disappointing to see some of the usual suspects writing players off on here and it was special to see AB prove some of his critics (you know who you are) wrong. If you are 'shit at football' you don't score goals like that - could not be more pleased for him and looking forward to see what he can do off the bench for us this season.
Thanks to everyone we met yesterday if anyone is reading - you really added to a great day out from beginning to end.
