Doug King, Mark Robins and Dr Roberts need to review the recruitment strategy and Dean Austin`s role as Head of Recruitment.

The transfer and wage budget has not been used effectively and squad planning has been poor as the squad is unbalanced and does not have 2 players for every position.

Top European clubs use TIPS or SPIT for their scouting and recruitment processes. This stands for Technique, Insight (game intelligence), Personality, and Speed.
CCFC`s recruitment process has been flawed as too many players lack the essential attributes for their positions.
Examples of this are Dasilva and Latibeaudiere who lack the necessary physical attributes (height, pace and strength) to be good Championship level defenders.

In addition to the inadequate recruitment, there is no clear identity or style of play as the passing and pressing is so disjointed.
The coaching structure now includes an in possession coach, out of possession coach, individual coach and set piece coach but this has not resulted in good performances or good results.
It seems that a strategic review and performance reviews need to be done by Doug King and Mark Robins during the international break.

Squad analysis
1
. There are 3 goalkeepers in the squad.
Dovin is a Swedish international who has a lot of ability and a lot of potential but he has been replaced by Wilson, who has spent the majority of his career as a back up keeper in League 1 and League 2.
Wilson and Collins are not good enough and are not value for money in terms of their salaries.

2. There is only 1 natural right back in the squad (Van Ewijk).
The squad needs adequate backup for Van Ewijk and Latibeaudiere has not impressed when he has played at right back as he does not have the speed or the technical ability of attacking right back.

3. The left back position lacks quality. Bidwell is good defensively but offers little in possession. Davilva is the opposite. He is decent in possession but poor defensively. Upgrades on Bidwell and Dasilva are needed in January or in the summer transfer window.

4. Thomas and Kitching are not good enough on the ball for the team to play out from the back. If the Manager intends to play possession based tactics Latibeaudiere and Binks would be the best centre back partnership.
£4m plus add ons for Kitching seems like a waste of money and an error of judgement by Dean Austin.

5. The squad needs another central midfield player so that there are 4 players competing for these positions. Currently there is Sheaf, Torp and Eccles.
Allen is not good enough and should be moved on in January so that his wages can be put to better use.

6. As Palmer was sold the club needs to sign an attacking midfield player in January. Rudoni is the only attacking midfielder in the squad and his best position is as a number 8, not as a number 10.

7. Haji Wright was signed to play as a striker and EMC was signed to play as a left winger.
Spending £4.25m on EMC as a back up left winger to Haji Wright seems illogical and another error of judgement by Dean Austin.

8. There is no direct replacement or understudy for Sakamoto as an inverted winger on the right wing.
EMC and BTA have been played out of position on the right wing where they have been ineffective.

9. There are 5 strikers at the club with Wright, Simms, Thomas-Asante, Bassette and Tavares.
This is another example of ineffective squad planning and a poor use of resources by Dean Austin as the Head of Recruitment.

10. The manager has tried shoehorning Latibeaudiere and BTA into the team and there have been too many changes to the team.
Lati has been used at CB, RB and DM. Thomas-Asante has been used at CF, LW and RW.

1. In terms of recruitment strategy, what specific processes or methodologies have been lacking or outdated?

Coventry City seems to be behind in adopting models like TIPS/SPIT (Technique, Insight, Personality, Speed). How much of this is due to Austin's influence, and how much can be attributed to systemic issues within the scouting and recruitment team?

2. Do you believe that the club has a clear tactical identity under Mark Robins?

The review mentions disjointed passing and pressing, despite hiring specialist coaches. Does this imply a lack of clarity in Robins' tactical demands, or is it more a failure of player profiles to fit the system?

3. Why has Dean Austin remained in his role, given the growing concerns over recruitment?

Are there institutional reasons for this (contractual, budgetary)? Or has there been a lack of oversight from Doug King on Austin’s decisions?

4. What is the exact relationship between recruitment and coaching?

Have the coaches had any input into which players are signed to suit their tactical system, or has recruitment been purely driven by availability and cost, with limited consultation with the coaching staff?

5. How confident are you that the January window will see the required changes made?

Does the club have a contingency plan for rectifying mistakes (like selling or loaning players who don’t fit)? Will the budget allow for reinforcements that are actually fit for purpose?

While you roll your eyes and sigh, "oh no,"

I know where you are coming from and you make some good points. But at a quick glance Van Ewijk can cover Sakamoto and Latibeaudiere can cover Van Ewijk. Mason-Clarke played a lot on the right for Petebrough and has said himself he doesn't mind whether he is on the left or right. Something Cov fans seem to be in denial about? Personally he seems a long way off where ever he plays! Not saying he won't come good but nowhere near at the minute.

Rudoni has far more flexibility than being pigeon holed as a ten. In fact I think he is more an 8?

Rodriguez is no where near the squad and probably included to qualify him? Always smacked as a long term punt?

We have one spare place in our senior squad at the moment. If player want to stay and see our their contract there is nothing you can do. Building a squad is harder than fans think.

We still have a small budget in this league We don't know fully who we missed out on or who we have lined up!?

The history of football tells us more signings fail than succeed. This idea we sign someone and they are a nailed on starter is complete nonsense. Regardless of fee a new signing is an addition to the squad and nothing more.

Do you reckon that we were manoeuvred into paying inflated prices for players because their clubs knew all about the Vik/Gus money?

Hard to not recognise some of the points being made. Feel CWR should ask about the balance of the squad.

It must be a strange position for Clive and co to be in - after 7 years of success with little reason to criticise MR they probably don't know how, or have lost the ability to ask any difficult questions.

Oh, the ChatGPT wanker’s back, you say?
Well, I’m here to brighten up your day!
With lines and rhymes, so sharp and quick,
But don’t fret, I’m here for more than just a click.

While you roll your eyes and sigh, "oh no,"
I’ll spin a verse with quite a flow.
Call me names, throw shade my way,
But my wit’s still sharp—what can I say?

So next time you hear my clever quip,
You’ll smile, though I’m sure you’ll try to skip.
I’m just the " chatgpt wanker" you can’t ignore,
Dropping rhymes and making SBT ask for more!

“Why won’t a bloke probably earning £30k and literally judged only on how many articles a day he pumps out torch his career by calling the sole entity he relies on for news a bunch of cunts??”

Always an SBT favourite.

CWR isn't a fans representative body. It also has to be careful about maintaining relationships with the club.

Yeah get that, they could be a little more balanced though. Clive and Oggy basically run defence for Robins and co when we lose.

Aled Williams is the one that needs reviewing. 3 first team keepers last two seasons in a row and none of them can catch a cold!

Yeah at the very least as a coach you shouldn’t be making players worse but that’s seems to be the case with him.
