It’s a crap logo. Genuinely proper cookie cutter crap — the ampersand is Trajan (a.k.a. The Movie Font) and the text itself is just heavily spaced out Avenir. You could knock something better out in half an hour with a little creativity. Imagine deciding that you wanted the most visible and distinctive element of your logo to be the ampersand, not even your company name! Just awful.

Delighted its Allsop amd Allsop

Used to dream about them showing a megarich Arab around one of their Dubai properties, they get talking football, conversation turns to the Sky blues, he sympathises with out plight and before you know it he's bought the club, ploughed billions in and we're looking at Man city in the rear view mirror

The one on their website is better.

The problem with the one on the website is it’s got a really wide aspect ratio, which means to fit it in you have to make the text so tiny it’s impossible to read except up close — useless for a sponsorship hoarding. They have a variant which puts the text on two lines (which is the one I used in my mockups) but even that has a pretty poor aspect ratio. Ideally you’d want something that was closer to 3:2 or at most maybe 5:2, that way it can be nice and large and still identifiable. That’s why some of the classic logos in the years are so memorable (the likes of JVC or Sharp or O2).

I heard why they pulled out last year, not saying it was true but could be an interesting time ahead.

Had a go at redesigning their logo for fun. I reckon it wouldn’t take much effort to turn their soulless mark into something distinctive and interesting.

You've got to assume that its the owners insisting on the prominence of the &. Can't believe they've been through a design process twice and had professional advise it was the best option.

that looks much better & stands out nice on the shirt, without taking away form the design too much either.

It's recognizable now, you see a for sale sign with a big '&' and you know straight away which company is selling the house

I think it's nice to have a local company as the shirt sponsor, although like many I didn't think their logo looked great.

I don't get why they have the ampersand as the prominent feature? I'd either have it in smaller font between the two words, or if they really want it large in the background behind the two Allsopp's. It'd be like have Marks & Spencer

Not sure if they thought the "&" looked more professional, but they could've just easily called it Allsopp.

That's really nice. I saw your offer on Twitter and followed you on the back of it. If there is still time then they'd be mad not to take you up on it or at the very least offer you some future work on branding design.

Exactly, it is about brand awareness and recognition. They sell houses, and a quick sideways glance at a for sale sign and you immediately recognise the agent. I think it is quite clever branding, and how that brand might look on the front of a football shirt was probably not on their mind then they came up with the original logo. But they have tweaked it so it's fine, but they'd be crazy to lose the ampersand at this point because of the recognition it brings.

Yep, at the time my daughter would have been about 6 or 7 and the first thing she noticed about the signs was that they were on her football shirt and pointed it out. It will mean city fans will see the boards and think of them as estate agents if they need one and put them together.

Fair play to Allsopp and Allsopp. This is exactly what the club needs at the moment, the backing of local businesses. All we need now is to find a way to get local businesses to boycott sponsoring of Wasps.

I don’t want to throw too much shade, but there’s an article on the CCFC website where Allsopp & Allsopp talk about their new logo, which they’re clearly quite proud of. Don’t want to come across as a churl, but… yeah.

It’s good news that we can add marketing and branding to the list of talents we have on here. If there is ever a sky blue talk business set up, it will make serious money

As a counterpoint..I quite like the new logo. Basic but sleek.
(I full take your point about the ampersand but still)

62 posts so far on the & in Allsopp & Allsopp.

The legendary Talbot strip in the early 80s would absolutely have broken the internet on this basis (obviously if the internet and GMK had been around).

I hope you make a living doing this at some point, if not that’s some talent that’s going to waste.

I would double like this if I could.

It really is totally amazing how many of our fans have more football knowledge than Robins and on top of this have such advanced expertise on topics including but not limited to injury rehabilitation, accountancy, design, council planning, stadium design, the biggest gangster at the club, the average number of windows broken by Whelan on a typical night out in Leamington and nuclear physics (admittedly probably not covered as yet but when it is the usual suspects will be sure to chip in).
