How are we all on here with them?

Me, shit scared. Got bit by a false widow a while back, lost some calf muscle from it and all sorts

No need for them to be so hairy and fast and have so many legs. Fucking horrible time of year this is for them, guarantee you will find at keast 1 massive fucker knocking about the living room floor in the coming weeks

Not a fan but have to at least pretend to be 'brave' when the wife and daughter are threatening to deploy the dog on any that make an appearance. We used to have a greyhound that literally yelped whenever a wolf spider came scurrying across the carpet, current dog is far more ferocious

They seem to be getting bigger all of a sudden! I don’t like them but everyone else in the house is even more scared so I have to deal with them.
Speaking of false widows - the school I work in has had to shut twice in the last 3 years due to infestation. Every time they do a shitty half job in dealing with it so I am expecting it to happen again in the next year or so!

Noticed that they seem to be fucking huge nowadays.

Last year there was one no word of a lie the size of my palm with its legspan.

Hoovered the fucker up and it was that big you heard it go up the pipe

They kill all the flies and bugs so quite like them.

Love their fearless nature as well. They just don’t give a fuck.

My dog is happy to kill them though if she sees them scuttling across so find a few dead ones on the carpet from time to time. Little twat can’t catch any of those big annoying meaty flies though, no matter how hard she tries. The useless fucker.

Hotter summers = more chance for them to grow.

On the whole don't mind spiders (mainly cos the ones in this country are largely harmless. If I lived somewhere like Oz they can fuck right off) but they are both fascinating and freaky. The false widows are a slight concern.

Certainly try and catch them rather than kill, but the big fuckers that run across the carpet like Usain Bolt are nigh on impossible. had one in the garden that had built a web across a small gap and the fucking speed it could come out if you touched the web was incredible. Plus they then get themselves right into corners where they can't be picked up.

if you catch them once it gets cold you have to find a protected spot or in a garage/shed. Just chucking them out the back door it's pretty much certain they'll die.

Best thing about getting a cat is I haven’t seen a spider in the house since.

I don't mind them at all. Rarely get them in my flat in the city but if I do I leave them be, rather them that flies.

My in-laws' place in west Cornwall has loads of them but they are bang in the middle of nowhere farming country and there are loads of flies around so actually a big use.

Same here. I hate the idea of killing them so usually just put them outside.

Really? My cats just look at them a bit bemused by the way they move. The cats do eat Daddy Longlegs though.

Spon End is infested with the bloody things. What annoys me is there's no easy way of disposing of them without leaving a stain on the wall. It means hooking up the vacuum cleaner which is incredibly tedious. I hate vacuum cleaners almost as much as I hate spiders.

I'm fine handling them up to about 2 1/2 inches across. Anything bigger and I just try to leave them alone or scare them back into their corner as they aren't hurting. We are coming up to Autumn when the bigger ones tend to come inside houses now. I hate fly's and gnats as I'm a real magnet for insect bites so I see spiders as something that should help keep them away.

I used to hate them. Woke my Mum up at 2:30am to get rid of one once because I went to bed and there was a huge spider sat there looking at me. I was 25 at the time.

A year living in Australia cured that pretty quickly though, I can deal with the ones we have hear now. Remember going to the toilet at work, sitting down and being faced with a Huntsman as big as my hand on the wall. Luckily I was in the right place to shit myself! Told my boss who's response was (and he was being serious) "Ahh don't worry they're harmless, if they bite you it won't kill you, you'll just end up in hospital".

Never had a problem with them - I had a tarantula for a bit when I was a young teenager as well.
Rodents are a completely different story though.
