And it’s clear many did not in this instanceWe’ve been over and over on this. Prevent is for terrorists. He wasn’t a terrorists. He wasn’t on a “watchlist” which was the rumour going around. He’s had run ins with the police. He’d been sentenced and was under the care of multiagency teams at various points. They’re not mind readers, they’re mostly underfunded ans over worked. He was as far as we can tell treated as you’d expect for someone of his age and history. Just because someone is excluded or found with a knife doesn’t mean “he was known to the authorities” as a fucking mass murderer.

Given the number of mental health patients who are released because the psychiatrists don’t see them as a threat and then go on to commit murder, often multiple murders ( e.g, Nottingham 2 students and a school caretaker), perhaps the thresholds should be reviewed ( taking the blame several steps nearer central government). Or they simply got it wrong, again, and at considerable cost in young lives and families’ anguish.
I doubt the families will ever get over this.

I have avoided ( as far as I can remember) commenting on the rumours / theories that somehow Starmer was involved in some aspect of this case as he had represented the parents at some point in the past when they first arrived from Rwanda.The notion that there is even a hint of blame on Starmer for this is quite the stretch, even for you Malc!
