Armstrong finds Vincelot in the box, but he can only drag his shot wide of the post as was at a difficult angle

He's a changed player this second half

If it ends 2-2 that's 10 points from 5 games, with 18 goals across the teams. Would I have taken that at the start of the season? I think I probably would.

Tudgay with a last minute chance, shoots well but keeper saves.

Ref doesn't give us chance to take the corner

Full time

If we have thoughts of playoffs/promotion etc, we need to be winning these matches.

Having said that, 10pts from our first 5, I would have taken that before we'd kicked a ball.

Doesn't mean he wasn't working hard, and taking up decent positions.

Thought Murphy was excellent second half.

I don't think so. Reda was a bigger liability.

Not really. He was at fault for one goal - that happens. It's his lack of presence. Their keeper had plenty and made a crucial save. You look at the two teams and we were better in most areas but their keeper was better than ours.

Conceding 6 goals in the last 3 games is a worry.

Bit gutted we didn't get the win, their keeper kept them in it.

Tudgay played well when he came on I thought.

Murphys confidence got better midway through the 2nd half but i thought he lacked a yard of pace to really trouble defenders.. Armstrong was marked out of the game but to he fair he also had very poor service.. we needed someone to get the ball to his feet.. but i think a drawer was a fair result although wtf was job doing taking a penalty !!!

Good point based on the first half and how we would have lost that last season. But if we are going to do anything this season we need to change our mentality. And after saying that, it was two points lost.

Totally.

I think most of us mistakenly believed we were going to be a much more solid unit after those first 2 games and clean sheets. Same old problems coming to haunt us yet again now though.

Worryingly too, there were a lot more negatives out there tonight than positives. I thought Southend thoroughly deserved their point. They were well organised, disciplined, strong, closed down really well and had bags of energy about them.

We're going to be encountering a lot of that this season and we need to find a counter. Once again Lameiras showed thanthe can be very lightweight at times and Fleck went backwards into his error riddled ways.

Thought JOB played well and Murphy much better in the second half, though he did make the wrong decision when he had the ball on a number of occasions.

Defence big worry and you can see that the back four have very little confidence in Burge, who seems to lack the ability to take control of his penalty area.

Really concerned now. Entertaining game, but we are still far too thin and we need a plan b urgently. Seems teams sussed out our plan a after 3 games and have now nullified Armstrong (did you see how many shots he had blocked today?) Opposition sides have now really done their homework on him.

We need more bodies and sharpish and they have to add to the quality of the squad, or we have no chance of finishing near the top 6 places.

Don't know if anyone else sensed it too, but I could see a goal coming from Southend when they had that free kick for their first goal. Just felt it coming.

Worryingly too, I was certain JOB was going to miss ours.

It was a horrible psychic night out there tonight.
