Hopefully. It's a measure of how far we have fallen that we consider 12k to be a good crowd. Just a few years ago when we were treading water in the Championship that would have been terrible. Got to get these people back regularly. I worry that a bad run of results and we're back down to 8K. Don't want to think about that.[/QUOTE

The club do so little to promote things though. They should be travelling the streets with a loud hailer on a crap day like this, pumping it out on radio, in the papers and on billboards, E mails to the database etc etc

No point sending it to people that are going anyway. Need to target the " sit on the fence brigade".

I remember 12k v Palace, towards the end of the relegation season. To be able get a similar number v Southend in a league lower, after 3 more years of shit on and off the field, on a Monday night is fantastic.

Don't deny that. We never had less than 12K for a league game in the Championship at the Ricoh, now 12K is at the top end of what we expect. Not saying that isn't a good turn out all things considered - because it is. Just highlighting how far things have fallen. Carry on winning at home though and people will come back.

After such an awful rainy day I predict 13,200 today as people will be glad to leave the house ! This will no doubt lead to queues and travel chaos though !

How results stand we'd move up to 2nd if we won, I think? Draw we move 3rd I think

This will be similar to the Crewe game. 2-1 win

Just the sort of scenario we are traditionally crap at. I see a 1-2 to Southend just to add to the wet miserable BH weekend. Hope I am wrong as me and my mate will be there. PUSB!!

I think/hope under TM the approach to such games will be different. I'm going for a 2-0 victory with the defence getting back on track and lameries showing just how creative he can be

Southend United boss Phil Brown is relishing the challenge against Coventry City tonight at the Ricoh Arena, as he goes up against a good friend of his in the form of City manager Tony Mowbray.

The Sky Blues have started the season well, but Brown says his side have 'nothing to fear', especially after being boosted by a couple of fresh faces this week.

“We've been given an extra couple of days and we've managed to add to the squad in the build up to the game in the form of Stephen McLaughlin and Glen Rea,” the Blues boss began.

“We're looking fresher, we're looking livelier and we'll certainly be stronger. The signings are real pluses and they've played at a higher level as well. There big boosts for us and in Glen Rea, it's a similar situation to what we've done in the past with John Egan and Jakub Sokolik.

“I'll have one or two selection headaches. Coventry are a big club and a very good side. There's a reason why they're up to top of the league.

“We've got nothing to fear and apart from the game against Walsall, we've shown what we can do.”

And on his friend Mowbray, Brown believes the experienced former Celtic, Middlesbrough and West Brown boss will set his side up well for the clash in League 1

“Tony's a very studious manager. He thinks about the game and he always prepares his team well. He encourages the flair side of the game and they have potency in the front line and a clean sheet mentality. It'll be a tough game at the start of what will be a big week for us.”

Looks like it'll be a higher home turn out than Crewe and Wigan then. 1,000 packages (just a guess, seems about right for tickets sold before the game/announced attendance), will be a good walk up. 600 away fans?

I work it out at about 12k?

Is it still raining?
Will a heavy field be really bad for us?

I'd argue it'd work better for us. We have players who are/work on the last man like Armstrong, Lameiras, Murphy who want to get in behind.

No to both?

I think it will be a good test of our new found "Flowing game" but I think we should be strong enough to win regardless.

Errr, how come there is security on at the car park at the Tesco Arena entrance?

All the shops are shut. You couldn't spend £25 even if you wanted to.

How do they intend to police that?

And when I arrived at 6.25 pm they weren't manning it, but at 6.40 pm they were on manning it.

They decided to man it after the shops shut?

Still enough movement in that front four to cause problems. TM has opted to keep the usual style rather than potentially having to adapt to start Tudgay.

Confident we will make up for last week; 2-0 with a good attacking performance.

Really?

Okay. Walked past it and didn't notice. Funny how they have stayed open and all the other stores have closed.

I doubt it. Would think Fleck would be deep centre with Vincelot like he had been all season, JOB or lamieres behind Armstrong with Murphy and one them out wide.

Interesting no Swanson again and C Thomas on the bench.

So are they going to say we all should have spent £25 in Next?

Hmmm, I smell a conspiracy. Next pay a 'commision bonus' to security guards for all the increased custom?

Yep and their Home store a few units down.

However, as you've added it does seem odd that only a couple of stores would be open.
