I used to work in live music, anything from academy sized venues to arenas / festivals. 99% of the time nobody ever checked passes and I'm sure if you turned up a few hours early and walked in with confidence nobody would have stopped you.

Bit harsh that. I know there has to be a deterrent, but seems ott unless there is previous history or bans that had an impact.
