I wonder if it would be harder to police / get away coaches securely in & out?
I revived this old thread, and made that comment 3 years ago, so things have moved on a bitNot arguing against your point of view, but given an already full stadium, how will your changes pay for themselves?
As was said at the time the rest of the stadium isn't design for away fans, rememember you will have to give them food and drinks kiosks and male and female toilets and anywhere but the South stand this is a large area that will include the entry way to home sections.

In all the talk about segregating fans etc., a point that usually gets missed is that ridiculously we don’t have a real home presence behind either goal! As mentioned by DadGad and others, the North Stand is exposed to the sun, prevailing winds and rain, and even in the earlier days of the Ricoh when it was regarded as our end, to me it always felt more like an open terrace than a covered home end. It’s not a particularly compelling place.
Can anyone remind me if there is an overriding reason why the club couldn’t allocate part of the North Stand to away fans, and give us the whole of the South Stand? Would it present any kind of new policing issues getting fans in and out of those areas? I can see a few other potential questions (whether to move the big screen, where the JSB’s should be; access to the Anecdote etc.), but nothing that couldn’t be sorted out. It seems some CCFC fans might be annoyed not to be close enough to the ‘enemy’, but I could imagine the South Stand recreating something more like the old West End, which would be brilliant. And the ideal place for a safe standing area.

There's no financial gain to be had now we are selling out all the time. However I still think having City fans directly behind each goal is an advantage for the team and the atmosphere. That's an unmeasurable benefit but if it translates to 3 points somewhere in the season it could be priceless.

It's pretty much established that it's not possible to relocate the away fans to a different part of the stadium, there are inbuilt constraints.
For quite a few years, we had a barmy situation where we basically gave the away team the South Stand as an away end because of SAG's ridiculous insistence on massive separation from Singer's Corner. That's what my post was about 3 years ago.
It's good that we've reclaimed the area behind that goal for City fans, and it's been great this season. But because the Prem require us to provide 3k for away supporters, they will probably be back behind that goal again. I don't think fan choice comes into it much unfortunately.

We may well be looking at away fans behind the South Stand goal again. It probably ramps up the to and fro between rival fans, but I honestly don't think it's ideal for the team on the pitch. Better if away fans can be more marginalised...
