It's still the people around him believing he has come into so much money and going to look at houses, surely the people closest to him would know? If I claimed to me a multi millionaire then I am pretty sure my wife would be able to rule it out before coming to look at new houses and promising my family things they clearly aren't going to have.

Especially when people from years ago say about his stories, which make it seem like it isn't something new but just more extreme.

I had a cab driver who said if he was lucky enough to win the lottery jackpot he'd keep quiet about it especially if it was a large win. Then after a low jackpot that the winner has opted for privacy he'd say he'd won that one. Hoping to stop family and so called friends from sponging off him. I thought that was quite a good idea.

Yup.

I have a friend who is bipolar too.

Definitely think this Dale Evans has some mental health condition. It just doesn't make sense otherwise.

I know people will laugh, but I once knew a guy who was convinced he was the king of Scotland.

I think we all sometimes laugh at delusion and psychosis because we don't understand it.

If this were a delusion or psychosis, then why the need to create fake evidence. As I understand it someone in the grip of a full-blown psychosis isn't likely to be rational enough to see the need to fabricate evidence.

Similarly with bipolar or manic disorders - most people seem to manage these without resorting to fraud.

I'm not sure we're doing people with these issues any favours by likening them to Mr Evans, however If we're going to play at psychologist-from-afar, then I'd plump for a Narcisstic Personality Disorder of some kind. Regardless, mental health issues or not, Dale Evans was thinking clearly enough to continue to fabricate evidence for some considerable period of time, and appears to have some history of this elsewhere.

However, he doesn't appear to be showing a great deal of remorse currently. Perhaps highlighting how unnacceptable his behavior is might encourage him to sort himself out before he does something really stupid.

Yes, that's what I meant. This could also tarnish the Hatter with the same brush, he may no longer be able to attend games

I'm not sure it would go that far, if the guy blagged hoffman it can't really be held against him.

Yeah, but my thinking is that it went too far and he felt he had to justify it by creating evidence. Not quite sure how rational he would need to be in his own mind. I could just see it all spiralling out of control.

I am just guessing in that bit though. All his paperwork is completely roughshod and amateurish to be fair. No idea how he thought people wouldn't be able to see through that.

There's nothing new under the sun.
This is far from the first time a Walter Mitty has tried to take over a football club. Have a look at the two examples from the link below
The guy who took over Aldershot actually went to prison for his fraud
Both cases are similar to our present Walter Mitty. Whether it's a mental illness or just present-dwelling need for attention is a moot point

I’ve read some tripe on here about legal action being taken etc and it’s ‘fraud’ etc etc. There’s no way that any legal action will be taken against the guy. Any judge will just laugh it off as a guy that may have some issues and won’t want this in a court of law.

The justice system can’t be bothered with such trivial dribble Drabble such as a guy lieing about buying a football club.

it also depends if he was trying to make financial gain - if that is the case it could be a lot worse
eg with the consortium etc

1 thing being Billy Bullshitter , and spouting on social media and the radio
another thing actually doing something about it

At the end of the day, if Eakin hadn't let him on the radio without checking up first, we would never had heard of him
CWR gave him the platform, and from their it spiralled

I still can't believe anyone actually got taken in by him, the initial posts he made on Facebook about flying over to Amsterdam on business, buying cars etc were blatantly all posted a couple of seconds apart.

If Hoffman is planning a takeover of the club, it's a bit concerning he'd get taken in by it all.

Yes, but on the basis that nobody is seriously out pocket and on the basis that he winds his neck in, I don't see why anyone would see the need to take him to court for the sake of it. I may be wrong and if so we may find out at some point (although how any of us would know if he does get taken to civil court, I have no idea as none of the parties are likely to broadcast it).

Sure I read on here he was defending a player (Biamou?!) who had come over to the fans and got an absolute earful from someone. I may have invented that story completely though.

Edit: Here it is...

We were absolutely awful in the first half, but the passion from the players got the win the second half.

All kicked off at the end between city fans. Biamou came and spoke to the fans and some guy was giving him shocking abuse. One of the mad hatters said something and the guy reacted.

Biamou was brilliant as well.

What’s a good idea? Opting for privacy then telling strangers in the back of his cab?

This idiot has broken the law in several areas but as he clearly lives in a fantasy world and probably doesn't actually have 2p to his name it is unlikely SISU or the law firm he was fraudulently misrepresenting would bother going after him - hopefully he winds it all up and crawls back to Norfolk never to be heard of again. For me personally it is troubling that Hoffman was so quick to embrace this guy without doing any real due diligence, smacks of desperation and a lack of professionalism - worrying for the future.

Good read that, but it's not just minnows that are fair game for these blowhards and fantasists,
Even the high and mighty Man Utd were susceptible to a smooth talking bullshiter.
Who can forget Michael Nighton taking to the Old Trafford pitch before a league match, delighting
The Stretford End with keepy uppys and other ball skills, he was supposed to be buying the club
On the Monday morning for £20 million. Oh well think he ended up buying Carlisle for a £1. And
Then meeting aliens.

I sort of know them all, but the one being associated with Dale tried to distance himself
From Him as soon as he realised he wasn't what he thought he was.

Has no-one who has had links to him, or purportedly knows him, ever met or spoke to his wife or family?

Just seems so odd that a lot of people have piped up about Dale Evans, but no-one has ever said what his wife thinks.

Would have thought someone who knows him, or of him would also know his wife, or of her.

In fairness, so many people felt sorry for him when he said about his family being abused but nobody actually asked what had happened or what was said.

So much of it was "my mate knows him and he wouldn't lie" and "my mate was with him when he did the deal with sisu".

Who's the mate?
