http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...ews/coventry-city-cant-handle-league-12202210

Unfortunately, there's no "spin" on it either. Quoted as saying the team know they aren't good enough....

"They are not a team who can win five on the trot.

"I don’t make it up and they can lose as many as they win.

“The bottom line is they have to try to keep getting better and keep adapting to the league.

"They are not ready for the league, they can’t handle the league and certain aspects of the league.

"They know it and I know it.

Who built this fucking team? Can fuck off with the budget excuse when they managed to build a good side last year. It's just not good enough, and it's a fucking empty comment.

Fuck off.

Hmm, he is saying 'maybe we can bring some players in, in January ' and that he is not sure.

Very clear to me like we HAVE to bring players in, in January.

He has admitted we are not good enough for League One.

My concern now is that I get the feeling we might end up only bringing players in by selling our best players (not that we have that many anyway), but I can see Stevenson gone for sure.

Could be a case of strengthening, yet weakening at the same time.

Venus's words here are of great concern. It's relegation talk. Usually you get managers saying stuff like 'we are better than this and we are confident we can turn things around and we're good enough to stay up.'

To say we are not good enough for League One is frightening, and let's not forget, we have got six more games still to play before January. Situation could be a lot, lot worse for us by then.

the comment about ready for the league is a stupid one! We had a bad day yesterday but rose didn't play, and players like stokes and mccan are injured who would have played if fit so that comment is totally incorrect!

I don't think Venus is the man and I didn't when he took over taking our time to replace Mowbray wasn't the best idea!

I have to say though starting with Andre Wright yesterday ment we were already down to 10 men from the first whistle......

I'm all for managers being honest, but I'd rather he said nothing than stuff like that.

Sounds like a man who isn't getting the job to me.

What changed over a week
We were unfortunate not to get at least the draw or more last week.

That statement means he should hand the job to a manager who can get his team to believe they can win every match, should he get the job, its a no from me now for sure. Get a new man in now before the window

I agree. Interim should have just until we get someone in. Should have been caretaker for 2 or 3 games only.

He has sat on the board so he knows exactly what the score is budget wise.
He also knows what this team needs to improve.
I think he is also thinking to do that the budget needs to increase.
Hence I think he is sending out that message.
I agree I don't like some of his team selections. However when you look at our best 11 do you think we are good enough?

It should have plenty left and more in January when we lose McCann and hopefully some of the loans

Well yep, that's what I don't get. There was some budget left because we were looking to bring out of contract players in.

Now he is saying we 'might' be able to bring players in. What's changed?

We are now saving wages on not paying a manager and our highest earner (ricketts) has retired.

Recruiting full time players in January is more difficult. There are no out of contract players so it's either players being released like Henderson or players with no club like Ramage.

I assume that's what he means. January signings rarely are good and usually are stop gap.

The crowds have died and they have had to revaluate the breakeven.
Might even have to sell one to get 2 in.

Yes and every time they re-evaluate the budget the team suffers and the crowds drop and they re-evaluate and ...............

Well as Clinton put it "they're getting no fans innit" on football league show but our crowds are low.

I think we do need some strengthening in midfield for sure and another strong centre half. Forwards need reworking but we have to accept we will have to move some
on in order to get some in - sending back loans will help then it is a case of getting maybe one or two decent permanents or hoping to recruit some better players on loan.

I think Venus has gone a bit Lee Clark there - however if he is complaining about playing kids then play your more experienced players!
Kyel Reid, Tudguy for instance have played loads of games at this level. I disagree with Grendel on Tudguy because I think he should start up top with Sordell in a front two every game. However I do agree with Grendel in that if he is not going to play it is a huge waste of a wage with our budget we cannot afford.

I think to moan about playing kids but then play them ahead of the experienced players makes you look a tad foolish!

Hardly bodes well does it. Midfield is the biggest worry for me, though we do need strengthening in attack too and are very light at the back should Turnbull or Willis get injured.

They'd better, 1/ 3 of the team is on loan.
Lewis Page - 12th January, 2017
Andre Wright - 9th January, 2017
Dan Agyei - January 2017
Chris McCann - December 31st 2016
Jamie Sterry - January 2017

We need a full time manager now, someone who knows this league.

My first chocie (Steve Evans) has gone so I revert to my second choice in bringing back Mark Robins.

Let's just stay up this season, that has to be the aim.

I've been saying you need more steel in the squad to succeed at this level for a long time now. Sooner or later some clogger on the opposition comes in and boots one of your youngsters and the tippy tappy football falls apart.

You definitely need a Hutchison , Bennett , Gynn , Speedie type of player but , you also need a Holton , Kilcline , Mcgrath , Curtis , Ferguson type of player too .
