Despite this they’re 6 points behind us with a game in hand - which might be an indication of just how weak the league is

How so? If Sunderland are having this terrible terrible season where they want their manager sacked but can win their game in hand (admittedly not likely atm) and be 5 points off third in theory then it shows the league is much of a muchness and this year is the time to go up

Exactly it’s the one chance in a decade opportunity probably

Indeed.

3 points from 9th to 2nd is bizarre. Last year after the Boxing Day fixtures there was 16 points between 9th and 2nd.

Going through the other leagues:

Prem - 13 points
Championship - 12 points
L2 - 8 points
NL - 9 points
NL North - 14 points
NL South - 11 points

How do you come to that conclusion?

If we were 9th at this stage last season we would be 16 points off the play offs.

A team like Ipswich who are second wouldn’t even have enough points for the play offs.

The fact there is little points difference between the top half shows it is a weak league with no stand out team

You can look at it either way. Teams all close together could mean lot's of good teams on their day but not consistent enough or lot's of weak team's over achieving. Either way you look at it it's our best chance for a long time to back up. I prefer a close league, I think I keeps things interesting and makes it a stronger league interest wise.

Could really do with Wilson getting brought this Jan so we can realise our sell on fee. Not looking probable atm but West ham are looking desperately poor up front

Because if teams can't get points both teams could be good

This league is there for the winning. Some leagues/seasons there are one or two sides that are clearly better than everyone else and they open up a gap at the top. This season the Premiership is like that.

Other seasons, half the table are in the mix. Clubs go on a run and look like they are going to stroll away with it but then that crumbles. Ipswich looked like that in our league earlier - and then Wycombe. But if we beat WW today (and we usually do) their lead at the top looks vulnerable again. If we look at the table we see any club down to 10th and possibly lower can win the league if they have a great second half of the season.

What I am saying is that we could win the league this season. From what I've seen the only thing we are missing is goals. Fix that in January and we could stroll away with it if (big if) we continue to dominate midfield as we are doing.

Happy New Year and let's keep everything crossed that Robins gets it right this January. We are over 20/1 on Betfair to win the table. I like those odds, especially within the context that Oxford (2 points more than us) were trading as low as 4/1 on Boxing day and even now it has corrected are still only 6/1.

Nope - still 21/1 (as I type £14 available at those odds). And 22/1 not to win. I actively trade our division on Betfair Exchange so I always know the current odds.

So after all the laughing at Sunderland they beat Doncaster in their last game and are now 2-0 up against Lincoln. This puts them 5 points behind us and 1 point off the play offs currently

3-0 now - I wouldn’t rule them out if they get some momentum with the players they’ve got and crowds they will be a real force

As was ever the case, their crisis was no worse than our lack of wins until the last 3 games

I still think Sunderland will come good and be too 6, one of the better squads and that’s a convincing win today against and in form team
