Thorn: "Blackpool came here and changed things a little and we struggled to cope with that at first."
Foster: "That diagonal ball?"
Thorn: "Yeah."
Oh dear, oh dear. Shocking.
Anyone who listened to CWR will have heard the Blackpool BBC Radio presenter being interviewed by Clive Eakin BEFORE the game.
Eakin asked this bloke how Blackpool would play and the bloke talked of this long diagonal ball from the back to the flanks trying to get behind opposition defences and he said they would definitely do that because they do that every single game. That same tactic! He said they always play that way!
So who the hell didn't so their homework? We could have lost two points because of this failure to check on how the opposition play the game! I think that is awful.
Yea they talked to they guy from BBC lancashire before the game and he said look out for the diagonal ball from left to right evatt to taylor-fletcher as it is a favourite pass of Blackpool's.
To not be prepared for that was very bad indeed.
Didn't notice that in the interview. That is poor.
Like I said in another thread, as soon as we saw how much they were playing the diagonal ball we should have made Keogh a third centre back and played with wing-backs, pushing Hussey a little wider.
Think they did it about 4 or 5 times against Keogh and then switched to the other side with Hussey. We only reacted after going a goal down to make the necessary adjustments.
Just not good enough, that info is on websites and avail to all. Bloody hell, post on the oppositions forums and someone gives u the latest info on players and tactics. Bad drills by Cov scouting team.
If only we had a chief scout who went to watch games and could look for this kind of thing. I wonder where ours was? Oh silly me he's managing the team.
I thought moving Roy wide-left helped, but cost us a goal-threat as he was looking dangerous as an out-and-out striker. Just loved Roy's graft and aggression-won 3 or 4 tackles that he had no right to whatsoever. The only thing he screwed up was one poor pass into midfield late on-when he was probably knackered after running himself into the ground closing down. Aint seen a City forward close down that tenaciously since Andy Morrell. Respect is due!
I think he might be saying that they have changed from the teams that we have played prior to this game. As none of them played such football as Blackpool did yesterday.
Yep pretty poor, however it mainly come from the fact we gave their midfield a lot of territory, which is why I am glad we reshuffled cos as soon as we did that there only looked to be one winner.
