He says Carlton Palmer was the most difficult player he ever managed.

One of his fondest memories was telling Dion he had been called up for England.

Messi is the best player he has ever seen, followed by Maradona, but he's not a lover of Maradona due to his off field antics.

Good find that was, I always liked Strachan, and I believe it was only his stubborness in persisting with a dodgy back line that eventually cost us our Premiership status.

i liked strachan, played entertaining football but i feel that team who were relegated were up against, not much up front and defence was poor like you say

Yeah I agree, I think he put too much faith in the fact that we had a close knit group of lads. Plus we lost our two top players the season before!

Wasn't there a massive delay in getting Hartson in, his goals could have saved us that year... I'm still bitter

nice link Harvey and its interesting to hear him talk. When he mentioned Hadji.Chippo,Huckerby,Dion and the rest it brings home how good that team was.
I disagree totally when he says Messi is the best footballer he's ever seen, what about Kevin Kyle !!
I like Strachan but would'nt want him back, times have moved on and i'd like to see young managers given a go, though i think we have a good enough manager now if he was given a bit financial backing, but that's never going to happen is it SISU .

Yep been spoken about many time before....we could have signed him 6 games prior to when we did or something silly like that.....I could be wrong there but it was a long winded exercise about making sure he didn't have an injury. Ironic really as we now have a great track record of signing players who are either injured or become injured.

Just remember despite having all those good players he got us relegated - I also recall him saying that fans know nothing, when he was criticised.

Tosser.

I still to this day like Strachan. Yes he got us relegated, but he kept us up a few seasons prior to that. Managers get teams relegated but that doesnt make them bad people!

Yes he spent alot, but rarely gave everyone a chance, and he had his favourites, sorry favourite (we all know who that was ). He did find a few gems though.

I dont think he'd ever come back. Im of the opinion you should never try and recreate history by going back to a former manager.

Totally agree. Have always believed that if Richardson & Co. had signed Hartson earlier we wouldn't have been relegated. It's hypothetical now, but it still rankles.

Couldn't stand Strachan when he was at City and still can't stand him now! He got us relegated - then slated the fans. I'll never change my mind about how I feel about him!! He's a tosser! I'll never forget the time after a match we had just lost badly at home (I was a steward in those days), and as he walked past a group of us, one of the other stewards muttered something like "He ain't got a clue!" to me. Strachan heard him, pushed himself into his face, ranted at him for a while then said to the head steward "I want this man sacked and banned!" Like I said, an absolute c**t and tosser!! (My mate wasn't sacked or banned because Strachan was later told by the club he had no jurisdiction over the running of the stewards. Bloke called Rankin was in charge at the time and he revoked Strachans decision.)
