They highlighted the comedy of errors at Pompey when Murphy bought down the player for a pen.

What a joke we are...

Soccer AM, making fun of footballing gaffes? Why, that really is out of character. A once great British institution has lost all my respect.

Maybe not an institution, but a great start to the weekend nonetheless. I used to watch it most weekends as a kid. Was actually quite saddening to see it deteriorate so badly over the years. Overheard a friend playing this song the other day, hadn't heard it in years! I'm sure you'll all remember it well...

You should have used the <sarcasm> and </sarcasm> indicators.

Never seen it? Don't pay the Murdoch dollar.

Anyway Lovejoy is a tit, Bob Mortimer once took him to the cleaners on Shooting Stars, my badly remembered memory as below.

Bob: Who do you support
Lovjoy: Watford F.C my local team
Bob: I support Oxfam, I like to help all the poor starving kids in Africa
Lovejoy: Errr um (embarrasament)

Soccer AM does this every week, followed by the hilarious 'Tubes' doing a crazy 'rap' and being really wacky, and then something about how women are just there for sex and stuff and then some shit indie band saying nothing of worth and not even liking SOCCER. Great, influential show that carries so much clout Sky Sports cut the running time by 33% and nobody cared.

Probably the lowest day in the history of our club, this.

I enjoyed it many years ago, circa 1997/98. But I don't bother to watch it any more, bar a quick look at the soccerette, but even they went from genuine supporters who were half decent to model type blondes that have not a brain cell in their heads.

The last decent thing on there was Fenners doing his cockney impression in the green track suit, Barry??

And as a hot blooded male who likes women a lot, Helen Chamberlain has never done anything for me, even 14 years ago when she was arguably at her best as opposed to the Zelda type caricature we see nowadays.

Brian Regan who played Terry Sullivan in Brookside is currently in court charged with conspiracy to murder, he's one of the few lucky ones to escape the program and move on to better things.

I was on Soccor AM some years ago. I found Lovejoy totally conceited. Helen Chamberlain was really nice in person. Is "Rocky" still on it? He was a nice bloke in the bar afterwards. Lovejoy took some persuading to just pose with me and Hells Bells for a photo. He did after Helen asked him about 3 times!

A friend of my cousins was on Soccer AM a good few years back and he basically said exactly as you have Houchens Head, that being Lovejoy was a bit of a big headed twat.

This remains one of my favourite articles. I've at times been tempted to buy Lovejoy's book just to take in the sheer audacity of the man.
