Soccer Aid used to be decent? It’s a charity kickabout for celebrities isn’t it?

The people booking knew what they were doing. Two of the ROTW in trezequet and rivaldo never ran in their prime, let alone 20 years later

It did used to be decent, but we all know why it’s gone downhill in recent years but no one’s allowed to say it.

She really is, I’ll add Alex Scott to that aswell.

May be wrong, but was that a prelude to Soccer Aid?

Lot of box ticking celebs, a mix of footballers who were once good and a sprinkling of recently retired with a huge Man Utd bias. Some of it pretty nauseating, particularly the commentary, but it raises loads of cash for a great cause and I have 300 other channels.

Game’s gone mate. I used to put on a suit and tie to watch it every year but the sanctity of Soccer Aid has truly been lost.

Did they even sing the national anthem before the game this year?

Hope not, for me Soccer Aid used to transcend nationality. It used to really mean something.

I remember the glory days of Soccer Aid, I wouldn’t even sleep the night before, I was just too excited. Everyone at work would take the Monday off. I’d never seen anything like it….Woody Harrelson? Taking a penalty against Jamie Theakston? When would you ever see something like that again? I mean, there was the previous year’s Soccer Aid I suppose. But other than that?

I fondly remember the Battle of Old Trafford 2014. The adrenaline was pumping like never before. The lions of England led by the warrior Johnny Wilkes clashed like no other with the outlaws of the Rest of the World led by the wiry Edgar Davids. A tale that will be passed on through generations.

Even half the celebrities used to be able to play a little - Wilkes, Ralf little , Mark Wright, Gordon Ramsey, Danny Jones , Olly Murs, the guy from Kasabian etc ( I’m sure there were more from the world XI )

Now half of them can’t even do the very very basics, you still want to see a good game of football.

Dermot Kennedy, Tom Grennan, Noah Beck all very good players.

You are just getting older mate, not really meant for you/us is it!

Celebs and players seemed better then because they were famous when we gave a shit about stuff. Hard to care about Angry Ginger ect but I'm sure some 20 something will.

Thats basically my life experience now with most things, seen it all before and the famous people don't register!

It's obviously shite, but most charity sporting events are, tbf.

It did give possibly the world's greatest mismatch one year, however, when the Rest of the World Side were awarded a penalty.

The commentator's line was, "and it's Theakston verses Maradona...."

Once half time entertainment is over and someone can shut Alex Scott the fuck up, second half should be under way soon

Yeah that's what I meant.

It used to be a bit competitive and they were decent.

Thought they just said Kevin Kyle
