It was in the Telegraph (Cov) recently. A classic piece of clickbait. The club Hamer would love to return to. Not us, I'm afraid.

I remember it years ago when he was at us, not recently

PSV at his age is a no brainer, European football, usually title contenders etc.

Home country (sort of) too.

He considers himself Dutch rather than Brazilian, so it definitely is his home country.

I'm not surprised. He's too hairy to be a Brazilian.

If he ever wants to get an international cap I feel if he goes PSV, plays European football and smashes it he might get a call up

He could be. I’ve seen worse players make the English national team when we’ve been full of stars.

Surely he could make the 26 of Holland?

If it wasnt a top international team..he would have got a few caps already. Not easy to get into the Dutch squad. Although hes arguably had better season (goals/assists) in prem than some of his countrymen have.

Apparently Hamer has told Sheffield Utd insiders he doesnt want to move and is happy at the club whilst his agent touts him around. Now where have I heard that before a few weeks before the season starts

I don't think Gus is fit enough for elite football.
Body shape says he's 10lb 14lb over where he needs to be.

Don’t think any Dutch club would fork out £25m.

Club will get desperate late on and take punt, like Sheff Utd did on him. Circa £15-20m is nothing for PL team.

They didn't pay that for him last summer so why would they now?

I really can't see him moving unfortunately.

Last year there was a release clause for £20 million and no one was interested

Even if he is overweight he is still a very good player. And say he needs to lose a stone then hardly a big deal is it. Could lose a stone in a month if he really wanted to.

as above, when someone gets desperate and wants an energetic midfielder then 15-20m will be nothing.

I'd bet a large sum of money that if one of our players allows himself to get a stone overweight that Lampards reaction would be very much the opposite of this.

I was amazed that a promoted side - Ipswich or Southampton didn’t sign him last year but the former got Kalvin Phillips on loan and the latter probably worked out that Hamer’s impressive year in the Prem wasn’t good enough to keep up a poor team.

This season, Leeds seemed a good fit but they’ve bought a fair few midfielders in already, Burnley probably think they have alternatives and Sunderland have spent much money (£15m minimum) on five midfielders already and are adding Xhaka too.

In short, I don’t think Hamer has anywhere to go.

Yeah, hard to see a prem fit for him. Shame as his talent deserves to be at that level and under the right manager I think he could thrive. Maybe more likely that a foreign club comes in for him now though, unless injuries/late move leaves a last minute spot free somewhere

With clubs in countries like Turkey and Holland starting to spend a bit more I think he does, but I agree the ship to the Prem may have sailed. Leeds had the strongest interest but seems to have died off.
