So what needs to be changed for next season? Is it Andy Thorn's fault or were his hands tied? I am a Newcastle United fan but have always had an interest in Coventry for many years and was wondering if you could you have a read of this and let me know all your opinions http://wp.me/p25EUA-6w
Cheers

Have a read in the 'Financial Discussion' subforum, in particular the 3 big threads in there posted by oldskyblue-those should give you a good idea. Congrats on the cracker of a season you're enjoying!

Dissecting what went wrong at Coventry City probably brings us all the way back to the early 90's and the start of the Premier League. The greed of people on the board wanting to be part of the Premier Leagues elite whilst pocketing millions of club money and leaving us £50million in the red by the time we dropped out of the Premier League with no Parachute payment.

However, despite dropping into the Championship, we plowed on with building a brand new megastadium as McGinnity, part of the board, owned a company which sold and fitted seats for auditoriums and STADIA. Therefore if production was halted then he would have made a huge loss. So, despite going against the interests of the Club, we built a brand new stadium. Unfortunately, we sold Highfield Road 5 years before we left, so ended up paying rent for the last years which ended up totalling more than what we sold it for. PROPER COVENTRY CITY BUSINESS.

AND we don't own the ricoh, are paying WAY over the odds to stay there and its looking grim as to whether we sill be able to afford to even stay there. ATM they are currently taking out the 'CCFC', 'SKY BLUES' and 'RICOH' seats and replacing them to comply with Olympic regulations. Don't be surprised if they aren't back there next season.

So in a nutshell, we are a medium sized club who forced to think big by the Board and confederates so they could make millions and run off while we were wallowing in the shit they had left.

:welcome:

Does anyone know what sort of contingency plans there would be if we were kicked out of the Ricoh?

That is bloody awful and bordering on fraudulant.
I can see my team Blackburn Rovers going the same way. We've had 40 million of debt loaded on us by Venkys. We even dont play our best avaliable side now due to appearance bonuses. This is why Kean lies about players being injured or 'not being in the right frame of mind'. He and Venkys are the same thing, theyre in it together.
He was 4th choice coach who was on the books of the sporting agency that advised Venkys on their takeover. He was always going to get Big Sams job. He is the asset strippers overseerer.
Is Thorn his own man or is he a Patsy for your owners. What do you believe your owners intentions are?

Thanks for your responses, I knew there were problems but didnt quite realise how bad, I always thought that the Ricoh was owned by Coventry! I knew that the owners weren't liked that much! I do hope Coventry can bounce back from this and can recover, it would be great to see them in the premier league which must seem like a long way for you fans
