We are weak in goal and short of fire-power up front.
I'm pretty sure we'll find that every other team's goal-keeper is better than ours - just like last season.
I think we'll end up mid-table or slightly above.

We will finish in the top half.

The rest is just a guess. If our defence is as strong as it looks we should make the playoffs. If we have a striker scoring plenty of goals but a defence that makes a few mistakes that leads to goals we should make the playoffs. A solid defence and a striker that scores lots of goals = automatic promotion.

Average start, picking up by October, top in January and champions with 2 games to spare. Showboating.

No one really can know. We have new players we know nothing about. The gap in quality within the league I would guess could be fairly small.

Relegated teams often do not immediately return. We need a strong start.

Its hard to say simply because of how totally unpredictable we are as a club.
Saying that, im probably more confident of a good season going into this new one than in any of the previous 5-8 years, not even because sadly its a lower league, but the planning and preparation, trust in Robins and the signings he has made can only instill confidence off the back of the end of last season with a shower of shite really didnt look like a shower of shite after getting used to his ways.

Top 3 for me!

Yep, I don't think we can start slowly. Think we need a good start to the campaign for sure.

There are an awful lot of unknown factors and I haven't seen any of the new players play yet, but I do have faith in Robins to have assembled a competitive squad and a team that will battle for 90 mins.

Of course, when I say promotion or Champions, there is a lot of wishful thinking involved with that, but I am a glass half full person anyway, so every season I believe we are going to do really well.

I think this will be the season we finally get that monkey off our back and finish in the top 6, I think we will sneak into the top 3 in the last couple of games of the season

A strong start is nice but Exeter we're second bottom in October and made the playoffs still, obviously it's not a given that all clubs in this fate will have such a upturn in form but it can happen.
Tho Carlisle we're a solid outfit who we're in the mix until they sold Charlie Wyke to Bradford and went on a huge slump in form just peaking again in time to make the playoffs.
What a goal scoring striker brings.... can be the difference.

I feel we could do with some creative additions and a bit of pace after watching today. We looked very solid defensively but I felt we were lacking ourselves going forward.

Quietly confident. I was reasonably impressed today. We looked solid, organised and the shape was good. We were winning second balls all over the pitch, and I can't remember saying that very often recently. Didn't really go for us in front of goal today, but the chances we did have fell to the wrong people and the final ball wasn't the best at times.

For a pre-season workout it was decent and quite reassuring. We'll do well I think.

I think we will start well and tail off towards Christmas. Late push for the play offs. Oh and we'll retain the Checkatrade Trophy.

We need to get out of the blocks early and maintain it throughout. Winning becomes a habit as does losing as per DNA of the likes of Burge,Haynes,Willis et al which worries me.
Lots of people seem confident but I'm afraid I don't share the optimism, but hope I'm wrong.
Mansfield,Luton,Exeter,Port Vale, Swindon I think are better equipped so if we can sneak into the playoffs I guess everyone would take it.
Lets not forget who is in charge still-which again will be an unwelcome distraction.

How would you know any of them are better equipped? I doubt very much the players care about the owners if they're getting paid and enjoying their football.

Why do you think they are better equipped, management, players\budget or simply its CCFC and we could never be ready and able to tonk a league?
Bookies have us third behind Mansfield and Luton, i think they are wrong, although there is a good chance i am, but i dont see a single game where we are going in as underdogs and if i was gonna pick a team to make it hard for us then Swindon, maybe im gonna be extremely disappointed but i see us doing well, very well.
I have faith in Robins especially after seeing the transformation towards the end of last season mixed with stronger harder players bought in.
For the first time in a long time we`ll do well!

Finish in the top 6 - Thomas moves on 1st august Robins uses the money to bring in a quality striker but not until after the first 2games have been played. We will be difficult to score against and will win a lot of the games by 1-0 score line I think come xmas we will be in 5-6th place then the usual mini slump but Robins brings in two good loan players from the Championship and we will be fighting for 3rd place last two games of the season. We will get through two rounds of the league cup(what ever it's called nowadays) 4th round of the FA cup and semifinals of the checkatrade cup.

Hoping for top 3 and autos. Expecting 4 to 7 and missing out in play offs.
We look to have a reasonably solid defence and workmanlike midfield. Depends if forward line clicks and gets goals. Not sure we have the creativity to do this.

I reckon this time it's top 8- it has to happen sometime doesn't it? I think all we're badly lacking is a good backup striker behind McNulty and Beavon, and Robins has time to sort that.

Top 8 is absolutely fine as long as it's not 8th.

I don't care how we do as long as we continue the trend of at least 1 fight per game.

I want to see fast attacking football. Would love to be putting 5 or 6 past some of the shitter teams, Anything other then top 7 will be considered a failure. Should have a top 5 budget with ffp figures. If we don't do it this year I can see years of stagnation.

OK here are my predictions.

We will finish in the top 24. We will win games we expect to lose. We will draw and lose games we expect to win comfortably. We will score goals. We will have goals scored against us. We will have games where we play shit but win. We will have games where we play well and lose.

Really looking forward to it now.

Heart say promoted, head says top 10. We have never looked like being promoted after relegation and have pretty much changed 3/4 of the squad. No bad thing but they are going to need time to gel. It currently looks like we are short of goals but Robins looks like he wants more CH' s looking at the trialists.

We normally need time to gel as we have been bringing players in as the season starts. This season is different. They have worked together before the pre season games. They have played together during these games. We have signed a few very experienced players with a winning mentality. We have a few players that were previously captain. We have bite in midfield. And we will be against Division 4 opposition every week.

We also know that Robins is a decent manager. This season is nothing like what we are used to. We are used to players meeting fir thw first time a few days before the first game of the season or later. Players running around like headless chickens. Soft players that get bullied out of games.

If we can bring in an experienced striker who scores lots of goals or have a player already who hits form we could end up thinking 2nd place as failure. But there is one thing for sure. Opposition supporters will look forward to coming to our ground. But for once they won't be expecting 3 points.

Preparation could be key this time. I really do not care at all for these last minute assembled squads.

We are still a couple of players short this season, but everyone else we have brought in has had time to understand the ethos and the plan and the squad has had time to gel.

Promotion ? Relegation ?? A good free flowing team on the pitch , playing with guile n' vigour ???

Personally , I suspect we'll see - An average start to the season . ie many draws , close 1 nil wins or losses either way , a mini winning run here n' there . as mid season approaches , we'll be doing okay-ish .maybe , top 11 . come February , I suspect we'll see a tail off to the season . possibly a 15th place finish , Robins will be gone by February , I also suspect this will be CCFC final year at the Ricoh whilst SISU remain . leaving CCFC to become lodgers at another ground . however , I do feel IF the club is not dissolved , by SISU and , new owners do arrive ... The owners of the Ricoh , will invite CCFC back ... Just my opinion . Good Luck to all CCFC fans everywhere for the season ahead PUSB.

My prediction for the 2017/18 season is you steadily increasing the number of people on your blocked list, a continuation of you rarely even bothering to check the match threads and even more time spent in your artificially created echo chamber discussing the 1960s and which ex player has their 106th birthday on that particular day.

I'm pretty optimistic for this coming season (then again I always am) but I reckon we'll go up this season. Autos would be nice but considering I missed out on the Checkatrade final I've written to Robins and requested a playoff final victory on a glorious sunny day next May. Not heard back yet.

I'd say at the moment we will finish about 8th.

We don't have enough at CB, the wingers are hit and miss, and we also probably don't have a main striker.

I think the outgoings not moving anywhere are really holding us back signing people.

Nailed it...

I can only assume Robins got your letter and spot fixed a few Burge/O'Brien howlers to keep us out of the autos

In all seriousness, really pleased for you Torch. I don't know you from Adam, but health is always the priority and if our success has helped anyone with an illness smile and feel that bit better, then it makes my current permanently silly grin that bit bigger x
