"Bless them getting all excited about a trip up to a big club for their cup final"

I thought we were going to Sunderland on Saturday, hardly a massive Club. This goes back to the point I made before - deluded the lot of them.

Is that the same cup final when we took 8,000 to MK?

I really dont understand their animosity towards us.

Fuck me, a game was delayed a million years ago and they seem to think it caused them to be relegated! They had all fucking season to gather enough points to stay up.

They are so insignificant it is unreal.

To be honest, I am really looking forward to playing a 'big' (relative to division we are in) club, at a decent ground with a large following for both them and us. Makes a change from standing on a terrace with 0 atmosphere at the likes of Accrington, nothing personal to them. Neither of us should be languishing in League One but this is where we are. I have no animosity towards them at all, find the whole thing bizarre and imagine the vast majority of fans feel the same way. I hope those looking to stur up trouble from either side don't ruin what should be a good weekend away for the rest of us.

From their forum: That Robo seems a right bellend.

For the avoidance of doubt I'm a massive bellend and when you've taken the time I have to perfect the art it should be appreciated.

Stuff all that hassle, I wouldn't want to give them the cash ! I'm off to watch Cov rugby instead, should be a good crowd there for their last home game and we could do with the 5 points too !

Sunderland are a very well supported club but are certainly not a big club.

As mentioned previously, many were babies or not even alive when Sunderland last won a trophy.

Strange bunch to be honest, self indulgent and clearly a bit deluded....

Hope we piss on their parade on Saturday.

Furthermore, I see they average 1700 away from home last season.

In all competitions, that's less than we averaged.

Yes but in their defence we're in the middle of the country, our longest possible trip is significantly less than theirs, offset against being at a higher level etc.

They were going to Leeds, Forest and Vila.

We were going to Forest Green, Morecambe and Crawley.

I’m surprised at that - u got the link? Our sway support is decent enough but they would normally have better numbers.

EFL Attendances – Final blog 2017-18

We averaged just under 1300 in the league. If you take in the Notts County, MK and Brighton in the Cup and play off semi final, we averaged over 1800.

If you add Sunderland's three Cup games last season, their average stays roughly the same.

The fact is, they rave on about their away support but it's higher this year down to the novelty of the new stadiums.

Their support this season has been phenomenal and good on them. Same with Newcastle, incredible support considering neither have won that much in modern history.

I think that's a bit unfair mate, I've worked with a good few Sunderland fans over the years, and ended up drinking in a couple of pubs up there the last time we played.

They're like us, the vast majority are entirely decent and can certainly take a joke or two at their own team's expense. The dickheads trying cause a bit of bother would embarrass them as much as our minority of brainless eejits shame us...

I have a Sunderland supporting friend who came to White Hart Lane with me in 1997 when we relegated them and Middlesboro and he has no animosity towards us at all. In 1995-1998 I worked in Southend with a Sunderland season ticket holder and I went to watch Sunderland play at Southend with him & his mates and they all knew I supported CCFC and nobody mentioned Jimmy Hill, 1977 or 1997. I had a great time with then and they all seemed to have too much hate for Newcastle to worry about anybody else.

It’s funny cos when I think of full kit wankers I think of Sunderland, don’t know why.

Maybe that’s what the knob jockey that shouted at the JH statue should have done instead? Has anyone got the clip....?

Fuck ‘em.

They all seem to think Jimmy Hill somehow delayed the kick off for the Bristol City game when in fact it was the police, as if a club chairman has that kind of influence :emoji_laughing:

Yes. The Bristol fans travelled in a mass of large numbers at roughly the same time and clogged the motorway network around Birmingham at rush hour. Hence thousands arriving late so The WMP decided to delay kick off for obvious safety reasons. I've tried telling that to various Sunderland fans and they simply won't have it. Yes, JH running up the steps to put their score on the scoreboard was true. Their chairman would have done exactly the same in similar circumstances.

This teaming up with Newcastle stuff is weird.

Couldn't give a fuck if people want a scrap just leave the bisto-drinking fans out of it.

I think I know that Nuneaton Youth? If you read this does your surname begin with a M? (reply on your forum son)

Me too! Disappointed that the fixtures clashed as I wanted to be a part in making the numbers in reply to their large following they brought to us earlier in the season but I've already missed three Cov games with my season ticket this term so something had to give.

To be fair, I read that thread earlier and most of them on there showed a bit of sympathy and understanding. Was just a couple of them with ignorant, moronic comments.
