There is so much wrong with that article, it's difficult to know where to begin.

Grammatically inept, factually and intellectually challenged. It reflects the look of the author who has just got off the school bus. Reminds me of a certain poster on here, from a while back, still wet behind the ears.

I love the way that you can only like it or retweet it, but not comment on it or dislike it.

Is the real problem the belly laugh?

Ridiculous comment. Reid's behaviour, with incessant retweeting of his clueless sycophants, was one of the most astonishing and embarrassing pieces of self-aggrandisement I've ever had the misfortune to witness; and was greeted by many in the way it's cringe-worthy manner deserved

If he has gone then I would not wish him ill. He has family to support I assume, it is Xmas and jobs at newspapers are scarce.

Did I agree with all of his articles in the CT - no. What he did do was stimulate discussion and to provide some of the facts, mixed with his view of things and opinions. Nothing wrong in that if you recognise it. But I think there are too many that think Les has said it therefore it must be correct without them questionning what was said and getting the answers behind the statements. That is not actually his fault but "ours" we should demand more from those involved including Mr Reid shouldnt we?. He would say he was only reporting what he had found out, which is absolutely true, but it was his job to wasnt it.

I wont get into the issues about personal comments, balance or agendas, not something I want to do. I think everyone has their own agenda and Mr Reid is no different. His perception of the "truth" is different to mine as his and mine are to anyone else and that influences how he reports things, that is just a fact of life that everyone should acknowledge. As such there is no perfect balance to what people should think or perceive, certainly not one that can be self assessed. His view is different to mine that doesnt actually make either right or indeed balanced - it is a matter of perception by others isnt it? The personal comments surrounding twitter, social media etc I find distasteful who ever said them - simply not helpful or necessary

Yes he has got to certain announcements first, others some what later, but there will be others to do the same job. Thats what journalists do isnt it?

Has he actually gone though?

Agreed. The infantile assertion: 'Personally, the idea of a new stadium excites me. The Ricoh just looks like a giant blue photocopier anyway'; which totally ignores the decimation of the fan base whilst this fanciful irrelevance is built is simply preposterous. If that's the best The Telegraph can come up with; then it's dwindling circulation will continue in direct correlation to the Sixfield's turnstyles...

I disagree MMM you may not of liked the way Les Reid retreived information or how it was published yet in all this mess Les Reid is the only one who consistently dug for the truth and kept the fans informed.

IF true, good luck to the bloke in freelancing for other agencies, but he's lost an credibility as a balanced source of news since his interview with Sepella. I have no problem if he wants to slag off ACL or the council if he's got facts to back it up, but it seems to be a one way street since Joy turned his head.

You absolute thoughtless idiots.Les Reid was one of the few people to bring a sense of clarity and perspective to this situation. His level of insight and contacts as well as the ability to be at or around the major decision points gave us more information than ANY other source.
The halfwits that spent their life abusing him on twitter and couldnt even understand his level of independence have probably made him less than supportive of our "fans". The Trust also were interested in him when he agreed with them and so lost potentially a fantastic resource and also a level of influence on their messages.

He was visited by some astonishing bouts of poor judgment in my view, that could have been interpreted as him having a leaning. Let me give you a clear example; and by means of background here, he's speaking in terms of The Trust receiving a letter with regards the Guardian article. Which we mostly think is 'heavy handed' at best, something much more sinister at worst. Anyway....

On December 10th, he tweets: @TheSkyBlueTrust's now published #CCFC letter. Seems to advise removing @guardian article link IF #CCFC takes action

Now, the above is clearly a misinterpretation of the letter. The advice to remove the link to The Guardian's article is not conditional on action, it's a per se 'take it down' advice letter from a very, very top law firm. Les' use of 'IF', and especially it's capitalisation does not reflect the flavour or ambition of the letter.

So, what happens thereafter?

The Sky Blue Trust says: 'Read it again Les'

Supporters Direct‏ are also astonished by the misinterpretation and tweet: 'V selective interpretation of letter @Lesreidpolitics Plenty will be surprised by your view'

In another tweet to Les: 'Surely it advises taking it down irrespective of any legal action, not IF?'

Now, he doesn't revisit his interpretation - which does appear fundamentally flawed, and misleading. But....

... he then re-tweets: @Gaytski Cheers Sam. Out-of-towner from @SuppDirect is incredibly one-sided too & not always armed with the facts or sense of #CCFC history

So, what's the above? A refusal to revisit something that appears to mislead? To refuse to admit he was wrong? What?

It seems to me that this might be an opportunity to get to more details of what is going on. I know Mr Reid was often saying that CCC and ACL would not talk to him or give him information. If that were the case he could not have been getting all of the story surely?

Perhaps who ever replaces him, if he has indeed gone, will be able to grow a better relationship with all sides............ if there was a problem?

Just a thought

So what you're saying then MMM is that Les Reid is not allowed an opinion despite the opposition against it? Maybe it was a genuine mistake or maybe his opinion is that the letter is what Les makes it. I have only exchanged a few Tweets with Les, but from reading his article's in which many have been very informative per the subject of CCFC, Les Reid has done really well, I think in fairness he could have pushed Joy perhaps a little harder during the interview, but in saying that Les was the first person to get an interview or even dialogue with Joy Seppala and that itself must be praised.

Les is a good guy....some of you need to look past the SISU/CT hatred for a moment - he is a BIG Coventry City and sees both sides to every argument, I really cannot understand the hatred towards him - some of you need to give your heads a shake...by the way this thread is embarrassing and shows the level of research some of you do and your complaining about Les and his work (Ironic)

No. I am saying he fundamentally misread or misreported a legal letter; and in so doing lessened it's impact. It was bought to his attention, and he failed to make redress.

Supporters groups have a right to hold owners to account, and to an extent, foster free (and respectful) opinion. When an organisation tries to cease some of that scrutiny, that's very, very serious. It was incumbent on Les to be 100% correct on this. Which in the mind of most fair minded people, he wasn't

I didn't start it. For the record, I like Les. We didn't agree on the basics but we had some good conversations via email and I respected his opinion.

I may have fanned the rumour flames a little though ;-)

I suspect he is freelance probably with some contract that has run out, these people move on and are never "out of work" as such. Having said that I never read that much he wrote, I prefer watching Peppa Pig.

Interesting that after doing a bit of digging to find out who the OP is. It may have some credibility but from the posters who have said they heard the rumour too then it all makes sense.

I'd be surprised if Les has gone - it looks like he has updated his Twitter profile and it still says "Coventry Telegraph politics", but everything seems to have been crammed up a bit so he can add "my view" at the end which I don't recall seeing before (though I've only seen his Twitter profile occasionally when I look at some of the debates he's having with other fans, so maybe it has been like that a while).

I think as a reporter he deserves a lot of credit, yes his Twitter feed might not look like great reading compared to where you sit, but personally I would give him a good amount of praise for what he has reported.

Again Rob; I don't think he's ever grasped or reported on the bigger picture of the various end-games with the club.

SISU seemingly want the freehold of the venue. Rentals, revenues are an irrelevance. It's all about freehold.

So, the very future of our club - that's yours and mine - is in the balance so that SISU get the Ricoh and it's lands.

You think that's worth it? You think Les Reid has ever reported that?

Was it not Les Reid who reported the interview with Joy Seppala who said "We will only come back (To the Ricoh) as owners" ?

What I wish Les had done - this is not a dig - was speak to CCCouncil and get them to reiterate their intentions to sell the Arena and it's Freehold or not and whether they have an acceptable value of the Arena.

The interview with Joy is a good start everyone was asking where Joy was and if she would ever communicate to anyone regarding our Club and it's future, yet the moment that interview was released into the paper that interview was ridiculed by so many. I admit that he could have pushed Joy harder in the interview but I think he had good reasons not to.

This thread is probably the most embarrasing I've seen and there have been plenty.

Hysterical, witless fools rejoicing at the rumour someone has lost employment.

The Oxford English Dictionary definition of "impartiality" does not match the sky blue talk definition. Definition in here is ACL bias, councill worship and complete disinterest in the football club. If les Reid had not raised one issue with ACL or the council but had labelled sisu the devil incarnate and Seppela an evil witch he'd be praised for his investigative journalism.

MMM we know has form. His staunch and continued defence of the buffoon thorn shows him to be a poster of poor judgement. Summer isle has exposed his inability to comprehend and present facts many times. His hysterical zeal at this latest rumour discredits him even more.
