The story so far....

3 League games

Southend 1-0 WIN - Not a brilliant performance. Just did enough for the win
Bolton 0-0 DRAW - Poor performance, still deserved the win though.
Bristol Rovers 2-0 WIN - Good performance, fair result.

1 Cup game

Exeter 4-1 WIN - Good performance. Although lower league, Exeter were on a good run and fancied themselves

I am cautiously optimistic but we are yet to test ourselves against a fancied side in league 1.
What is a good sign is that we are getting results when we are not up to full strength and
when we are not playing particularly well. We are lucky to be getting some of the lesser opposition before
we are playing our strongest side.

If we can keep getting results like this until Allen and Kastaneer are fully fit we will be in a good position.
I will give it 10 games before I hazard a guess at our final position.

I’ve see enough to suggest we will be top 10.... next 7 games will confirm if a top 6 is there to be had. All very pleasing

Pompey away is what used to be called a yardstick

Agreed. They’ve not had a great start and will be desperate for a win. Regardless They’ll definitely have aspirations for top 6/top 2.

Jaime Allen will be just as important as Kelly once he’s in the team fit looking good so far & now we have Godden striker spot is sorted since we lost sparky.

Teams not finished yet. Godden, Allen and Kastaneer to hit match fitness and a loanee to come in means over a third of the first team to really be seen.

Dabo and Jobello will acclimatise to the league as well. Very, very excited by this squad. The likes of Jones, Biamou, Hiwula, Baka, Shipley, Westbrooke, Pask, Hyam, McCallum behind the first team and players like Eccles, Burroughs, Ngandu, Bapaga and Bremang coming through.

Gonna be an interesting season.

Don’t think much can be measured from the Exeter game. A League Two team, a weakened one at that. Their fans were very angry that their manager didn’t respect it.

There’s another thread saying we have only played relegation zone teams so far.

Next up, bottom half of the table Portsmouth. that’s another win in the bag for us

Agree with all of this, yes I think the Pompey game will be a good measure, I am looking forward to seeing the team with a fully fit Allen, Kasteneer and Godden. The Exeter game - well it's easy to say poor opposition, but in the past it was just the sort of game to trip us up, look at the Bolton game.

I just hope that the Mason and Dabo form isn't a flash in the pan. With Allen and Godden fit hopefully we will make more chances up front. Kastaneer is still a bit of an unknown quantity yet, but if his goal on Saturday is a what he is normally capable of we have good things to come.

what’s great is we aren’t all waiting for a fully fit Jones and Biamou to help out the team

Bolton were a weakened team and look what happened there

Exactly. 3 games and 7 points in, with 43 left to play and people are on cloud 9. Draw to an outrageously inexperienced Bolton, and stuff a weakened L2 team, neither Bristol or Southend will offer much this season. We’ll hear the thud when some team plummets some people back down to earth.

Our style of football will have Alot of teams chasing shadows this season, be it top teams or bottom teams, it's rarely played in this way at this level..

We will also only get better

Encouraging for me is

The passing around the back is phenomenal
Mcfadzean is such a presence and talks
Rose is far better than I imagined
Mason is twice the player
Dabo is a beast
Kelly is fit
Jobello looks like he can cross and run
Kastaneer suggests something special
We’ve won 2 league games and strikers haven’t scored.

Think the quality of the playing surface is suiting our style. Early days, but I can see us racking up close to 50 points at home; it then depends on our away form.

So far so good, but we still have a weakness in the final third.
Hopefully Allen will give us some extra creativity, and Godden will be a massive improvement over Baka and Biamou. Kastaneer looks useful and Jones is still to come back.
So I'm really looking forward to a top 6 finish.

I think Biamou will be loaned out, probably Nuneaton.

Robins not happy with him, not following his instructions against Bolton !

A centre forward Didn’t follow winger instructions in pretty much his first competitive game back from a ACL lol

Because it's a game of two halves, football isn't played on paper, good touch for a big man... cliches.

Anyone who struggles to see the difference between this progressive/attractive/entertaining football we're seeing - compared to some of the utter junk we've been served with in the not so distant past - needs owl shit rubbing from their eyes. I've thoroughly enjoyed Robins tenure, it seems we're finally on the path to returning to the right end of the footballing pyramid.

They'll be plenty of bed-wetting if we get beat tomorrow for sure. All sorts of doom-mongers will come out of the woodwork. But, just as the victory on Saturday cannot be used as a gauge for how our season will pan out, neither can defeat tomorrow. It is perfectly possible that we lose tomorrow and still go on to have a great season. The opposite is true also. Anyone who uses a defeat tomorrow to write us off needs to have a quiet word with themselves.

There’s no such thing as a “quiet word” in our fan base
