BILLY DAVIES was the overwhelming early favourite for the post of Coventry City manager among Sky Blues fans voting on our website.

The ex-Preston, Derby County and Nottingham Forest boss took just over 50 per cent of the votes in our poll, with former Sky Blues favourite Dennis Wise second.

Caretaker bosses Richard Shaw and Lee Carsley were well down in the voting.

Your votes:

Billy Davies 51.5%
Dennis Wise 17.8%
Harry Redknapp 17.1%
Lee Carsley 4.7%
Steve Cotterill 4%
Dion Dublin 2.5%
Richard Shaw 1.2%
Gary Megson 1.2%

He bitched when not getting a left back after spending £7m at Forest. He'd be lucky to get 7p here.

I don't know who voted that. If we had Davies we may as well start recruiting again immediately for February after he quits following not enough support in the Jan Transfer Window.

Why has Harry Redknapp even been put on there?!

Surely the candidates will be informed of what budgets will be available to them before they decide whether they'd be interested or not, so if Davies accepts the restrictions etc, then IMO he is a clear favourite.

I have championed Dennis Wise but whilst he has a good managerial record, he did have Poyet by his side, so would be be as good by himself?

Redknapp 17% is beyond a joke and frankly, deluded...

Not only this- http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19385142 but by all accounts, take away his usual wheelin' an dealin' escapades and his 'top gezza in the media' approach, he is tactically weak with no contingency when things go wrong and seems only capable if allowed to spend big.

I have a couple of Spur's fans as friends who seemed genuinely pleased when he got the sack. He got them as far as he could and they knew he could do no more for them. He didn't know how to change a game and often his substitutions were questioned.

After that, you're left with a mould that mostly sounds reminiscent of Thorn but who would also spend the club into administration if you'd let him (though the admin could come with or without him.)

This is from the telegraph where their polls showed that about 80% of fans thought thorn was a good manager etc.

Keep an eye on the bookies odds

Redknapp himself has said he believes individual players win games, not tactics and formations.

We need someone who would get the best out of a set of players, not want to sign a load of new ones. He wouldn't be a good fit even if we did stump up the cash for his wages.

He may have a point ,the misses by Cody ,the Penalty ,two tiring midfielders ,guy at right-back struggling, no understanding or cover between right-back /centre -back.

Anyone who thinks redknapp would consider coming here is seriously deluded and it's embarrassing the telegraph have listed him! We're league one FFS!

I meant his philosophy is to collect good players and telling them to 'go out there and do their own thing'. Think we need a more tactically astute manager, Redknapp has a good record but his style is outdated.

Yeah there's no point even discussing Redknapp. Never going to happen.

Yeah I took you out of context ,but was probably adding a little to what occured in the last 2 matches, which does emphsise the failings with subs ,the biggest factor to bite AT on the bum all the way through.

Billy Davies is my choice. If SISU gave him the remit of play-offs bearing in mind the implications are laid out to him first i.e no transfer budget, loans and frees only etc he could motivate this team to the top. I wouldn't say he spent excessively at his past clubs or no much more than what our last 5 to 6 managers have spent anyway. And he is definitely not a weak yes man, which crazy as it seems could ultimately be his downfall with our type of board. His record speaks for itself. So my choice is DCI Jim Taggart sorry i mean Billy Davies

Billy Davies is a good manager but the only reason SISU will not touch him is he demands transfer money and has no problem with falling out with owners and publicly airing his opinion on them. For results and fans perfect for SISU very high risk at a time when they dont need to be seen in a bad light...
