Steve Staunton used to drive me mad watching him constantly bend the ball out of play trying to whip a ball out of defence down the left hand side!

David Burrows - used to mimic 'pace' with that fast shuffle whilst being drawn to the left touchline like a crab. All the time just looking for that long ball forward instead of any other option.

Burge, he took an age to distribute the ball. It did my nut in watching player's in space calling for an early ball, only for him to hang onto the ball before kicking it out of play

I didn’t mind osbourne tobyfair but he did take the worst corner I’ve ever seen at the Ricoh, didn’t get off the floor and straight into the side netting!

If he'd got played in his natural position of midfield disruptor instead of RB he'd have made more sense and possibly have been more effective for us.

Not as slow as Kevin MacDonald maybe, but Jose Perdomo also moved at a snails pace. Also remember Darren Currie who must be close to being the slowest winger there's ever been.

Why is it when I see the names Jose Perdomo and Carlito I think of them like fictional FM players that never actually played for us? Even though I know they did.

Even Perdomo’s Wikipedia entry refers to his lack of pace! I saw him play for us and only remember being dazzled by an actual foreign superstar playing for us.

Yes, Perdomo’s wiki page is hilariously damning isn’t it! The Sampdoria coach said his dog was a better player. But the guy hit the greatest pass I’ve ever seen. From the centre circle, he set it off about 20 yards wide of the corner flag, and then it boomeranged like a golf shot into a gale, and landed softly and perfectly in the path of the aforementioned Kevin MacDonald, who crossed it for a fine goal as I recall.

My own nomination for slow & boring is John Craven. He did a steady job though, and it’s sad to see that he died before reaching 50.

yes! I can’t believe you remember that too. It was a league cup game v Bolton I think and it all felt very glamourous- he was blatantly slow but skilful and that pass was incredible, the backspin was nothing like I’d ever seen, it was passing from another universe. Kevin McDonald seemed to take hours to run into it and crossed it over for Livingstone I think. That truly was the best pass I ever saw one of our players ever make.

Mcindoe had no good traits at all for a winger. No pace, no skill, no engine, couldnt cross pass or shoot. I was actually really excited when we signed him, but he was terrible.

Michael McIndoe. Had no pace as a winger, was frustratingly slow, could never pull away from a defender in a one-on-one sprint.

He actually got a decent number of assists for us but agree he was a disappointment overall

Wasn’t he in the final of the fastest footballer competition that John ‘the flying postman’ Williams won? Both prior to signing for us of course.

Another mention for Kevin MacDonald, although I think he had broken both legs by the time we signed him.
Possibly even slower with a strange shuffling motion like he had splints on his legs.....Ray Gooding.
