Sky Sports has confirmed its first batch of live 3D games for the new Premier League season, starting with this weekend's Community Shield.

The satellite broadcaster will this year air 115 Premier League games in standard and high definition, with a selection of matches also being offered in 3D.

Sky's first 3D game of the new season will be the Community Shield on August 8, with Chelsea taking on Manchester United from 3pm.

The Sky 3D channel will then air Liverpool's home match against Arsenal on August 15, Manchester United's game against Liverpool on September 19 and Manchester City's battle with Chelsea on September 25.

It will also broadcast Wigan Athletic versus Chelsea on August 21, Aston Villa versus Everton on August 29 and Everton against Manchester United on September 12.

Sky 3D, which is already available at around 1,500 pubs and clubs around the UK and Ireland, will be launched to Sky's top-tier residential subscribers on October 1.

According to Sky, over one million people have already watched live sport on Sky 3D, including cricket, football, rugby union and darts.
